Can you ride a ATV or tractor on a city street in your state? Tennessee allow's it.

Tractor is ok, so long as its for agricultural related purposes. Needs to have a slow moving vehicle triangle sign. Operator needs no license, and no age requirements. I have a tractor and do it all the time.

ATVs have to be street legal, insured, and licensed. Mine are. Driver needs to have a drivers license, or an approved OHV education certificate. Kids as young as 8 years old are ok with the certificate.

I am not sure all of this makes sense, but its our law.

Had a grandson get his certificate at age 10, we did not allow him to operate the ATV without close adult supervision. Never have let the grandkids drive the tractor on a road.

I don't know what the law is about driving a tractor on the roads, but it brought to mind this film, "The Straight Story" (1999). I have a soft spot for Richard Farnsworth and loved this film, so I wanted to share.:)

Here's an excellent synopsis from IMDb.

"A beautiful and very emotional "Harry and Tonto"- styled movie experience as Oscar-nominee Richard Farnsworth (playing the real-life Alvin Straight) decides to travel on his old riding John Deere mower from Iowa to Wisconsin to see his ailing brother (Harry Dean Stanton) because his driver's license has been revoked, he doesn't like public transportation and he has no one else to drive him. The two brothers have not been on speaking terms for many years and now the clock is literally ticking on one last chance for them to see one another and hopefully make amends for past mistakes.

Sissy Spacek gives one of her finest performances as Farnsworth's slightly mentally retarded daughter and the supporting players are all real and heartfelt caricatures of America's heartland. Outstanding film-maker David Lynch (to me the finest living American director, along with Martin Scorsese) goes totally out-of-character with a 180-degree turn from whacked triumphs like "The Elephant Man", "Blue Velvet", "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me" and "Mulholland Dr.". He quietly and methodically creates a G-rated family film that has deep messages for people of all ages and backgrounds.

He paints a picture of America where the old ways of life are still the most important. Farnsworth (who is a total revelation) was in excruciating pain throughout filming due to terminal cancer and terrible arthritis. Notice he stands very little in the movie and he is almost always filmed from the waist up. Sadly this would be his final performance as he committed suicide shortly after his Oscar nod. He did become the oldest nominee ever in the Best Actor category, but really that will become trivial as time passes and his role will be the thing that shines brightly forever. Truly a legacy production for all involved."

I love that movie!
I have the DVD
Farnsworth rocked

Nobody here cares what you drive or where. I've been on the road many times in my golf kart when the Sheriff drives by. Sometimes they stop & we talk about stuff.

Can you drive an ATV on the road in Florida?
Florida law states that all-terrain vehicles (ATV) may only be operated on unpaved roadways where the posted speed limit is less than 35 MPH and only during daylight hours. However, a county may choose to be exempt from this.

The only place(s) you can legally ride in our County is on private property with written (notarized) permission from the owner (unless the owner is with you).
Of course, that doesn't stop them from doing it anyway until they're stopped and ticketed by the police, then you get to listen to all the entitled babies cry the blues on Fake-book.
Oh yeah... Any person operating an atv must have a valid driver license in their immediate possession.

This is an agricultural area and tractors are pretty common on the roads. The neighbour opposite us is a fencing contractor and usually drives one of his 3 tractors to wherever he's working. ATVs are mainly seen on the bigger farms, but can be used on roads if 'road legal' and insured.

Yes, tractors are legal. ATVs depend on who's in charge of the city government, they had a hard-on for busting ATVs but the power changed and they don't care about them now. Farm equipment are the tools of God here and can do wrong they go where and when they want.

Not legally without a licence but everyone does anyway, even in the cities. I’ve seen many ATV’s on the road and not one with a proper licence. Cops have more important things to do than start busting ATV drivers.
Big tractors need a SLOW vehicle sign to drive on the road but many don’t.

In PA, the MV laws are simple. Farm tractors and machinery may be operated on roadways until dark. They also must have the reflective triangle attached to the rear and after dark, tractors must be equipped with a beacon and 4-way flashers.

ATV’s may only be operated on roadways during emergencies, like a snowstorm to help aid those in need.

I never had to arrest a farmer for driving his tractor on a roadway, nor would I. I have warned kids about driving their ATV’s on the roadways. They knew better than to spout off after I was only giving them a warning and not a citation.

I don't know. But being in California, we have farm land. Not unusual on a road out side of town to find a tractor. They are always good about pulling over when they have a number of cars behind them.

And I'm not impatient that way so I'm not bothered by them.

We have two counties where I live that allow it. Problem is the small city I live in you cannot. So I cant get out of town so I can ride...
That's what I have taken to doing. We own a farm a couple of miles from town. I haul my ATV on a trailer to the farm, and ride on the back roads in nice weather. When I finished I ride it up the ramp back on trailer and head back to our home in town. I don't want to get the local cops mad at me. I just don't like the restriction and this is my way of meeting them in the middle.

My son has a small farm about 5 miles from me where I could keep an ATV. Just not as convenient as leaving from home...
