Dance

My 2nd most favorite thing to do with my wife, and 2nd best way she keeps me happy, healthy, and optimistic is, she dances with me. We dance almost every weekday evening, and on her weekends off, any time of the day she sees me feeling down, she'll put on a record and ask me to dance with her. (yeah, I have a record-player, one of those small ones)

And it works every time. It's like taking a mega-vitamin and a happy pill and downing them with an energy shot. Good for the body and the mind. An instant energizer and attitude adjuster.

For a lot of years, once in a while I'd turn on my playlist and dance with my grandkids, with Paxton, or by myself. A lot's happened the past couple years, and there were a couple of really awesome happenings, but most of it was really bad, and it effected my overall health. But dancing with Meesh is excellent therapy, and I love it.

While not a social dancer, since I grew up in a tall dark & handsome dominant cultural era when many Caucasian women tended to be embarrassed dancing with any short men, so instead have always been a solo freestyle rock dancer. Along with dance generally as @Murrmurr notes being viscerally enjoyable fun, given balance neural plasticity has complimented my physical skills skiing and navigating complex natural landscapes.

One of my favorite memories of my late husband: We had a three year drought! One afternoon it clouded up and poured down rain!
I ran outside and swirled around in the rain, dancing and feeling the raindrops on my face. He looked out the window at me and ran outside too! He grabbed me and we waltzed around the lawn to unheard music, getting soaked, laughing and swirling!

I still dance though, to my old rock and roll, by myself.

My wife and I dance, well we did, arthritis has curtailed much of our dancing. We used to do all the Latin & Ballroom disciplines and one or two others. The Lambada always raised eyebrows and The Argentine Tango could be sultry. There was a time in our later years when our dancing impressed someone so much (our age, not our dancing,) that he went into print.
OMG... not sure I'd take that as a compliment HC..lol.. this was written in 2009.... 14 years ago.. and they repeatedly call you old man and old woman.. :ROFLMAO:

In my time, as a teenager, we would take ballroom dancing lessons .
Dancing was the thing!
We had several dance halls and often had the big bands playing for us.
I had a great partner and we got bronze medal at the dancing school for waltz, quickstep and foxtrot.
His name was Johnny.
Tall, dark and handsome but he had a tooth missing near the front and that stopped me from falling madly in love with him.:ROFLMAO:

I have always loved to dance. Latin and belly dancing remain my favourites, my recently developed pole dancing skills were quite the challenge to acquire. For months I was “ our lady of perpetual bruises.” Sobriquet courtesy of my long suffering instructor.😂

Dancing a sensual Rumba to the strains of Dean Martin's: "Sway." Enjoy.

There is nothing more sensual than dancing to Latin AMerican music. My girlfriend and I used to go every Saturday night to the Spanish Club in Sydney. Although we were never professional, we had the time of our lives. I met my first love there and one never forgets your first love. Va Va Vhoom.👌

Well spotted, it's much more a Latin improvisation dance using the rumba rhythm that is, "Sway."
Yes. Agreed. It’s one of the few tunes that lends itself to both a rumba, and an American Tango. A bit less an Argentine, but with a skilled dancer whose musicality and improv are good, (as in the video) it can also work.

Oh the memories you brought up. When I was a teenager I went to dances every Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. When I met my husband he would only dance the slow dances with me and his buddies could dance the fast dances with me until one dance when he thought his buddy got too close to me so then he danced even the fast dances with me.
