Douyin is Chinese, I believe, but based on Korean makeup. The goal is to make girls look elvish and I think the glitter does achieve that effect pretty well. Yes, guys wear this in drag etc. but this is about females wearing this type of makeup. I am trying little bits of glitter liner in the creases of my lids to look less --- OLD! I used to have some great stuff I bought around ten years ago that reflected light really well but they don't make it anymore. I used it for the first signs of aging I didn't like and Douyin reminds me of that.Chic.. I have to be honest and say this style of make-up is the style Korean boys.. and young women wear.. to completely alter their appearance.
It looks weird
Here's a very short video.. but there's plenty longer ones out there....you'd be astonished at the change
What do you think of this style of makeup? I'm not asking if you would wear it. Just do you like it or not? I do think it's pretty and looks attractive on the models. If I had a granddaughter, I wouldn't mind if she wore this.
I agree. The "white dot on tip of nose illusion". Many use that to make the nose appear smaller. And it is more suited to the young, of course. There are a couple of elements I may try though. Makeup washes off! There's more than makeup going on in that video. You can contour and shade features, but you can't literally shrink a nose with cosmetic tricks.
People have been using all sorts of techniques to disguise their true appearance for centuries. If someone wants to make the effort and take the time to go to great lengths to alter their appearance, that's up to them. I'm sure it gives some people more confidence, but it takes a tremendous amount of upkeep to maintain "the look", and for all the work it entails, it's temporary. At the stroke of midnight, just like Cinderella, it all reverts to its original form.
As far as Douyin makeup, why not? Glittery eyelids, feathery eyelashes, pink blush, and shiny blurred lips are trends just like any other style of makeup that was and is "fashionable". Do I like it? Yes, it's soft and pretty. I think it's more suited to the young, but there's nothing to stop older women from wearing it if they want to.
