Health company Article title='Longevity in a capsule'

Resveratol is a super antioxident found in red wine, grape skin, berries and the stalks of the Japanese Knotweed plant.
The company promoting states "their capsule includes grape and red wine extracts plus 20x more reverential than a bottle of red wine".

Have you heard of?
Take?
Believe it?

I've heard of it. From all I've read, there's little to no hard evidence that taking resveratrol supplements shows any benefit to human health and some studies show them to actually be detrimental.

I eat berries regularly and red grapes when they're in season. Getting benefits from natural amounts rather than hyper-dosing is my strategy.

What do you think about resveratrol?

Since the company is promoting it, I'm sure it sounds miraculous.

A med site says "Resveratol may have some benefits for hay fever and weight loss, but there is no strong evidence for other uses."

Considering all the chemicals, dyes, and inactive ingredients required to turn a grape into a pretty tablet, I'm sure you're a lot better off just eating some grapes.

I am familiar with resveratrol as an alleged NSAID for horses - yes horses.

Hereā€™s a link to a clinical study where horses are concerned.

Effects of Orally Administered Resveratrol on TNF, IL-1Ī², Leukocyte Phagocytic Activity and Oxidative Burst Function in Horses: A Prospective, Randomized, Double-Blinded, Placebo-Controlled Study - PMC

I applaud anyone who can read the entire study- I couldnā€™t get through it, so here is
the conclusion as it applies to using it as an NSAID for horses:

ā€œ5. Conclusions:

Orally administered resveratrol at a routinely recommended clinical dose for a duration of 3 weeks did not significantly affect phagocytic activity, oxidative burst function or PAMP-stimulated leukocyte cytokine production. Further pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic investigations are recommended prior to recommending the routine use of commercially available resveratrol supplements for the purpose of immunomodulation in horses.ā€

It is also in a product called ā€œmetabarolā€ for horses with insulin resistance. The product was new on the market when I was dealing with an IR horse. I did not try the product as what I was using was working and I did not want to rock the boat.
