There is this assumption that everyone has a smartphone and uses it to browse the internet. I don't. I use my phone just for calls and texts. I'm having trouble finding a phone company which has a plan for that. I am about to lose yet another provider because I just haven't used any data. Any suggestions?

If you only use your phone for calls, then consider a Tracfone flip phone. The phone itself costs about $20 and you can get a plan that costs around $10 per month.

I should think that the provider would be happy that you don’t use the features that you are paying for.
I can pick from many plans that have unlimited talk, text, and data.
I used to use a disposable ‘burner phone’ from the drugstore that charged by the minute for talk, I believe that they are still available.

I don't know what to suggest Lavinia... I don't use my iphone to rowse the internet at all... either.. but I think I still would like the ability just in case I need it for any reason...
I have a burner phone as a back up phone and just use that on a PAYG plan.. instead of the SKY package that I have for my main phone/tv/internet etc..

I've had a Tracfone (burner) phone for years. It is not my regular phone. It's just a spare in case my regular phone is lost or damaged. The $19.99 plan is good for 3 months and that plan includes data, but I've never used any. I have to add a $20 refill every 3 months, or lose my service, but that's cheap, since it works out to only $7 / month. Tracfone has never contacted me for not using my data allowance.
