Poliosis

Poliosis is a decrease or absence of melanin (or color) in the scalp, eyebrows, eyelashes, or any other hairy area. It is commonly known as a white forelock when it affects the hair just above the forehead.

My husband has a buddy with whom he`s been friends since grade school who has this. His is in the front of his hair. My friend`s baby (now 35) has it as well,but hers is at the crown. I never knew what it was called.

I don't think so. His hair just turned white gradually & before it became all white it was (I think) what's called "Salt & Pepper."

I dated a woman who had a cute streak of white in the front & the rest of her hair was black. I thought she dyed it that way.

I worked a guy that had completely brown hair with a white streak in the back near his neck. It was like a white "tail".

The Spousal Equivalent has a spot of white hair like that on the back of his head, which he's had all his life.

I didn't know there was an actual term for it.....I just always called it his "polecat spot".
