Power out in one room yesterday

Three life speed bumps this week. Stove accidentally put in sleep mode when trying to reset clock, car muffler shield removed and than the power loss in one room. Unfortunately it was the room in which I have my computer, modem and router. That means no computer or phone. It happened when I went to turn off the floor lamp. I just touched the lamp socket and there was a loud POP. It tripped the breaker for that room.
I didn't get a shock, and there's no GFCI in that room. No other rooms were affected. Had to figure out how to reset the breaker switch. The one to the mentioned room tripped halfway, but just putting it back to the ON position didn't help. I finally figured to push it all the way to the right, then back to ON to restore power (why is that?). Sometimes old ladies can figure things out eventually. The lamp and light bulb still work.

Three speed bumps.

Homeless people don't have stoves to put in sleep mode, nor do they have rooms for power to go out. Some do have cars to sleep in.

One of those be thankful for what you have.

Someone with a voltage ohmic multimeter and experience will need to troubleshoot what happened. I expect the switch you actuated caused a 110v AC short at that component that quickly melted the wires or contacts causing open lines. So might just require the switch replacement with something ordinary from say Home Depot. If it melted wires within wallboard areas, it could be more expensive requiring opening up walls.
