I remember the milk being delivered. Had a little metal box by your front door. Put your empties in and a note saying what you wanted. Milk, cream, orange juice etc, etc.
Milk had a cardboard stopper with a tab. Pulled the tab up to open the bottle.
The paper was delivered, the milk was delivered. Even potato chips and pretzels could be delivered in big metal cans.
Really getting the old brain cells to work.

Fieldbrook -1-7527 in the 1950s, South Hills of Pittsburgh, PA.

Reminds me of the old gag: "I lived in a town that was so small, my phone number was 8...:)

Yeah, we got milk delivered every morning, left on the porch. Milk never tasted so good as it did in those glass bottles!

In the summers we'd have an ice cream truck come around with popsicles, ice cream cones, and a Pittsburgh treat, Klondike bars.

We'd have a peddler pulling a cart who would go up and down the street. His most popular task was sharpening kitchen knives.
