I guess it depends on whether or not you are a politician. A politician would request government funding to remove the $hit then have the home destroyed & rebuilt. All at tax payers expense.

I thought it was borrow and spend now, the wait until the gubmint offloads your debt to the general population. Student loan forgiveness is a great example. I was a sucker for helping my kid get through college without a loan.
