She looks sad. I wonder what the story is behind that picture. There must be one, I would think.
I think Hopper was brilliant. There is a Youtube video called Gustav Deutsch - Shirley Visions of Reality 2013. I am not clever enough with the internet to work out how to put in a link but this guy managed to do a movie sort of thing with 13 of Hopper's paintings. Bringing them to life so to speak. Apologies if someone else has mentioned it before.
As though she's just read a sad passage in the book she's holding. She looks sad. I wonder what the story is behind that picture. There must be one, I would think.
I love this. Here's another Victor....
Wasn't that a fantastic era? Long before photography was even imagined.Cornelis Jansz de Heem (1631 Leiden - 1695 Antwerp),

It's beautiful and also reminds me of the Statue of Liberty's features in a way. Silly me.I've always admired everything Art Deco and this month a retrospective of this artist, Tamara de Lempicka, is coming to the De Young museum in San Francisco. GOING SOON!
First Major US Retrospective of Art Deco Icon Tamara de Lempicka Premieres at the de Young in October 2024

I love the way his people spring to life and look so normal. I also liked Van Gogh's sketches for the same reason. Prouvé's appreciation of the beauty of the very normal, catching the smile, the glint in their eye, and the spirit of the moment are so precious when so much is posed today. I am also very jealous of his ability, which I have never mastered despite sitting in front of such examples of skill and trying to find the colour, the shade, and the twist of the movement needed to put life on paper.More Victor Prouvé.....
