Article: "Aging Americans Face Bleak Futures Unless We Let New Immigrants Help"

As a person who has lived so close to mexico I could slingshot rocks over the border I will say this….that drug trade needs consumers. Follow the money. You will find a remarkable amount of corruption in law enforcement and upper class folks.

It's the grim fact that people don't seem to want to address. You know why so many drugs are coming to the US? Because people want them. There's a huge number of people willing to buy on the street and use. Then they're addicted and it's all over.

Same with the cartels. They're armed to the teeth. Where do they get their guns from? The US. It's a vicious circle where the US sells the cartels the ability to kill others so they can send over more drugs for Americans to take.................

I read that the is also a northern border problem, but with immigrants going the other way being kept out by Canada as "undesirables." Maine seemed to be dealing with some of this. They seem to be French-speaking Africans, but it is hard to find the whole story.

I suppose immigration is just a complicated situation all around.

Its interesting how many people live in their own little bubbles of understanding of illigal immigration.
Many look at it through the lens of their own small world and assume that reflects the bigger picture.
Ask the families that have had family members murdered, raped, or brutally assaulted what they think about illegal aliens. I bet the picture would be different that what is being portrayed on here.
Killer MS-13 gangsters are being bused into our communities as ‘minors’
We are at a time where illegal is determined is debatable. Some things are illegal while other things illegal are not at a personal level.
The reason is we look at things through a macro lens vs broad based lens.
It does prove one thing, the Saul Alinskys of the world are accurate in how to take over a society at a low unnoticeable level to the citizens.

First and foremost they are here illegally. They have committed a crime against American.
Who exactly is this "they" you speak of, all immigrants?
Well that's a lie, and it's a bigoted remark because you should know that's not true.
You're trying to generalize from one hypothetical situation and apply it to all immigrants, which is wrong.

Currently, there are 183 tunnels from Mexico to the US that are used for smuggling. Also, has anyone heard of drones?

Walls don't work. The Berlin wall should have taught us something.

Last estimate I saw, building a wall would cost 20bn dollars.

Of the land needed for a wall, one-third of the land is owned by the federal government or by Native American tribes. 13 States and private property owners own the rest.

The construction of a wall along the US-Mexico border toppled untold numbers of saguaro cactuses in Arizona put endangered ocelots at risk in Texas and disturbed Native American burial grounds, the official congressional watchdog said Thursday.

Armed Mexican guards were deliberately brought across the border to GUARD the wall that was being built to keep them out' say whistle-blowers who worked for construction companies

I could go on. The wall is a grift.

All illegal aliens coming through the southern boarder from Mexico. Millions crossing not at the legal entry to the US.
Now, you can take the few that are coming the legal way and apply it to all illegals, but the numbers pale in comparison.
With all the news media streaming every day for years, showing illegals streaming across the border and YOU want to say that is not true?
Spoken in the true sense of someone from California.
PS. name calling doesn't work on me.
You are deflecting from facts, as expected.

Well, someone better tell this administration that walls don't work; 'Yael Lempert about $150 million provided to Jordan for border security in the fiscal year 2023 omnibus package, funding that is partially continued in the 2024 budget request. Lempert said she supports that request.'
If it doesn't work, why are we supplying money to build one in Jorden?

We are not say build a wall to keep people out, we are only saying 'used the door'.
You have to be joking about the cactuses...you have to be....I had to chuckle at that stretch.
Based on your concerns, we should be more worried about cactuses rather than the rapes, murders, and beheading of American citizens?
Really?

I'm afraid I must respectfully disagree with David777. I fail to see how immigrants are responsible for the wage gap, inflation, or homelessness, let along rising RE costs and low end housing. I certainly don't recall Venezuelan or Haitian immigrants (the two largest recent immigrant groups) making zoning and permit regulations of the type that a certain wealthy mostly-white CA suburban city recently tried to use to bar an affordable housing project from being built within their borders.
But that's precisely what happened in South Sacramento in the 1970s. An entire moderate to middle-class area of homes, privately owned businesses, and a few motels was displaced to create what is still known as "Little Saigon."

That area is now a run-down war zone where two Vietnamese gangs vie with other South Asian gangs and a few homie gangs for ownership of drug and sex trade turf.

Meanwhile, there's a rapidly growing homeless population who can't afford the rent anywhere in Sacramento. All of our low-income communities experienced a very significant post-pandemic rent increase early this year. Two of those are transitioning to LGBT+ -only communities, one has transitioned to a newly immigrated and immigrating Muslim-only community and another is in transition, and the rents in those communities are not being significantly increased. More-over, the city is currently working with utility providers to get those particular tenants deeply reduced rates for gas and electric services.

And, of course, upper and middle-class Sacramentans will be burdened with the cost of this inequity inclusionary community planning. That'll go fairly smoothly until those classes of people leave. Tens of thousands already have.

The majority crossing have requested asylum, which makes them temporarily 'legal.' Not saying I endorse it, just saying facts. Once you request asylum you are legal until your case is decided. And of course you know it is Congress, not the President, who made this law.
They are being told to say that, well before they get to the border. and those that don't claim anything, are still just walking in illegally.
There is also a law that makes it illegal to come into the country outside the proper channels.
Storming our borders, killing our border guards, prostituting women and girls, are illegal.

By their "handlers" yes, but US Border Patrol and the INS and HomeSecurity have a list of countries allowed to claim asylum. As Pepper pointed out, anyone claiming asylum is detained until that status can be verified.

Canada is allowing 1 million immigrants each year. Sounds like a win-win situation until you research the matter and find out that there are now more people in this country than houses. House prices have sky rocketed. Crime has sky rocketed. Hospitals are over crowded and you have a hard time dealing with employees because you just can't understand what they are saying. Win-win for some but lose-lose for others.

Right Muskrat! I have been saying the same thing for years. The drug "problem" only exists because there are steady customers for the drugs. The customers are your friends and your neighbours here in Canada and the USA. If there were no customers, there would be no reason to import the drugs. The drug cartel is "laughing all the way to the bank" and we are the suckers who keep buying and buying and demanding newer and stronger drugs year after year.

Listen to Nancy and "Just Say No"!

First and foremost they are here illegally. They have committed a crime against American.
2) they fill the streets with filth and reduce major cities to lower than third world countries.
3) These 'immigrants' are from all over the world walking across or borders. Terrorists are finding it easy to come to America, collect a monthly check, free food, free housing, free medical under the cover of 'immigrant'.
4) The drug cartel has owned the border for some time, sending their mules to further disintegrate the sanctity of the United States
5) MS13 now populates much of the cities and commit rape, murders, and violence to American citizens.
6) They steal social security numbers and collect more money (besides they government handout) and ruin the elderly as they try to retire.
7) They cost billions every year to hospitals and state and local governments.
8) money transfer companies are reporting record cash movement between the US and countries around the world, especially Mexico. Illegals are collecting free money and send it back to their families. Why? Because we taxpayers supply them with everything they need for free.
I could go on and on about how phony the argument is for illegals when you use the term 'immigrant' as if it was some plight suffered by people that were truly needy and looking to better themselves through hard work and being upstanding citizens. Those days are long behind us.
Countries are emptying their jails and send them to the US border. That should tell you something about the quality of 'immigrants' we are getting. Recently we spent billions in other countries to strengthen their borders from illegals, but we have open borders for the world.

The reason this is all happening now?
Because they are creating a new voting block that are willing to trade votes for cash. It is that simple.
Is that you, Donald?
