Do Men and Women Behave Differently When Sick?

There was an English TV advert some years ago where the ambulance men ran into someone's living room because the male had a cold. The woman in the advert really was unwell, but handling it. She had the gall to complain that she might possibly be even more ill. The ambulance men soon explained that this was a man cold and she could not possibly be as unwell as he was.

I cannot remember the details or what it was about, but it was funny. And I think, maybe some sort of message in there somewhere.

I think it depends on whether or not you live alone. Most men will make a huge fuss if there is someone there to pander to them. Women only succumb if they are really ill. If you have others who depend on you, then you have to just get on with things as best you can. I always try to make sure I have a supply of pet food and medication just in case I am suddenly taken ill.

I can't stand being sick, I find it a challenge and with my last breath I won't let it win, I push myself to do all the normal things I always do.

My Husband may he RIP would milk it for all it was worth, I can't complain, as I gave in to him staying in bed in the spare room, and would nurse him back to health.

But still, I don't think there is a difference between the genders, it's up to the individual how they deal with it.

Lol, a interesting discussion.

In our home, its my better half that is the suck! If something happens-like a hangnail (haha) she whines and complains like shes been shot! The last time she got a minor cold, she milked it for a week. (It was just a bit of stuffiness, no aches and pains, no sore throat, nothing).
I had it...I took 1 rest day! But I do give her credit she still kept going to the gym. (Just complained the whole time).
But wouldn't trade her for the world!

I think you write this stuff, just to get a reaction out of her.... :ROFLMAO:

I do that too...

That said... my husband doesn't make a fuss when he's ill..in the sense that if he's poorly, he just takes himself off to bed, he never asks for anything, altho' I always would make sure he had everything ... but he would rather just wait it out.. and get better withut fuss...

My husband-if he gets a hangnail he’s dying. If he stubs, his toe-it’s the ER. But if he’s actually sick, not bleeding, he just goes to bed.

Anytime he gets a bleeding boo boo, it’s panic mode. I am sure it has something to do with Vietnam service.

Well, I might trade you! 😉

I did not watch the video.

I know that people react differently when sick. Some will tough-out the most horrible sicknesses, while others will scream like a crying baby if they prick their finger. Most of us are pretty much in the middle. I don’t see any difference based upon gender, race, age, etc.
