Question for Gary O'

It’s called Madagascar Ebony
Its colours are a marbled black brown
It’s a very hard exotic wood. IMG_3922.jpeg

A wood that’s close to ebony is wenge which is pronounced when- gay. It’s also a very hard exotic wood. It’s so hard that it’s difficult to finish. The grain is really tight.

This is wenge

@Jace
I've burned up the teeth of a few chainsaw chains on what the locals call 'silvers' (semi petrified logs)
It's pretty much like cutting thru rock

A small chunk can be strategically placed for decoration

That's all I know

BTW
It's Gary O' (with the O and the apostrophe)
Otherwise I just happen onto the question

Keep the questions coming, tho
Someone's bound to pitch in

.just Heard of...Palmetto wood
('heard' it makes lustrous table-top)rr
Ever?
Another that I've only heard of

In doing a bit of cursory research, it seems to not have much of a grain, if any, and I'm big in grain formations
And the 'wood' has little to no defects
I'm big on defects, as they become features for me

Nevertheless, looks to make great looking coffee tables
