What are you grateful for that you often take for granted?

Unfortunately today is my 5th day without running water.
Fortunately the people next door are supplying me with fresh drinking water.
Unfortunately I had to go to the doctor Tuesday.
Fortunately he is a great doctor.
Unfortunately he prescribed an anti-inflammatory which I unfortunately like an idiot took, both of us knowing I can't.
Fortunately I have a bathroom.
Unfortunately no running water to flush the toilet
Fortunately torrential rain today so plenty of rainwater to use to flush.
Unfortunately ran out of toilet paper.
Fortunately I have a car to get to the store.
Unfortunately torrential rain has flooded yard and I had to practically swim to car.
Fortunately I made it to the car and the store.
Unfortunately had to use the restroom when I got there.
Fortunately they have a nice restroom with running water and flushing toilets.
Unfortunately I didn't quite make it.
Fortunately I think I made it home without anyone knowing.

I think sometimes the universe tries to get us to learn to put things in their true perspective. Many of us are facing a lot of very difficult situations in our lives, that sometimes we lose sight of how much we have to be grateful for.

I am truly grateful for close friends, my family, THIS SITE, toilet paper and running water in my house. (If I ever get it again.) :D I will also be grateful when that damn plumber gets here. Sorry universe I promise I am grateful for people willing to be plumbers and having things in my house to plumb. Please send him soon.:please:

Fortunately, that great attitude will get you through this and more, Judi D. Yes, what's with the plumber being that busy??

For what am I grateful? Too many reasons to list here. Maybe to top the list: The air we breathe, fresh water to drink, the health of my family, including my own, the warmth of old Sol, the freedom we have, the fact that our president can't run again etc.

Lol Falcon!

I am most grateful for my wonderful family, they are truely the BEST!

I am grateful for my comfortable life so far!

I am grateful for all the tiny insignificant things that happen that make me happy!

and I am happy to have found a great forum and hope that I make many friends here as I have on other forums

good post Judi.D

That's tough Judi, being without water for so long. Great that you have helpful neighbors, and can get out to use public facilities. I drink 2L bottles of plain seltzer water, Canada Dry brand. When it's on sale for $1 per bottle or less, I take advantage and stock up. Since there's no other ingredients in it, it can be used for hygiene, etc. Same with the TP. I always use the old Scott brand, 1,000 per roll. When it's on sale for around $7.50 a 12 pack, I buy as much as I can...that's something I'll need until the day I die, and it won't go bad.

What I'm grateful for and usually take for granted is my health. Also, I'm very grateful for my husband, we've been runnin' together for almost 40 years now. I was never rich as a child or an adult, but money takes second place to many other things in life, IMO.

Hope your plumbing situation gets corrected soon Judi, hang in there girl! :love_heart:

My gratitude list gets longer every yr. At the top is motherhood. I have been blessed with a beautiful daughter and she lives close to me. I am so very grateful to live in this great country. And for the 49ers that bring much joy and endless fun get togethers.

Being ill for the last 6 weeks I realize how much I took my wife for granted.....UNFORGIVABLE.
She has had a hard time while I have been Ill. Now I am unable to do much with tendon damage to
my right shoulder &.About another 6 weeks healing time.

I'm grateful every morning I wake up.

I have everything I have ever wanted, luckily I didn't want much. While that may sound sarcastic, it's not, I lead a pretty simple, basic life and I grateful for everything in it.

I hope you get your plumbing fixed soon Judi.

I hope you are feeling better GDAD.

Hope you have water now Judi! I'm grateful that I'm in a position where I can make my own choices over my life. My children are my best friends and I cannot express how thankful I am for both of them.

I didn't know you were ill Gdad, i hope you are on the road to recovery now

Thank You Jill: Just annoying that I can't do anything as I am right Handed & it is my right shoulder that is damaged.
I was offered an operation, but decided to just let it heal. Will take 6 to 8 weeks to heal. That's life. cheers!

That't a long time ti be with out water, Judi. I know there are people in West Virginia who could sympathize with you. I do, too.
I'm grateful for little mercies, for the health I have, for my family.

I'm going into day 8 without running water. However, my situation is no where near to what the people in WV have been going through. They have absolutely NO water. I have water just not the convenience of cutting on the tap or an automatically filling toilet tank. What has happened in WV is a true disaster. Those people are lined up for blocks to buy water. FEMA only just started to truck in water to them. I heard yesterday that they are starting to turn the water back on to some. However, first they have to flush out everything in their homes.

Judi..I had no idea W VA was so bad..no matter how bad we think we have it there are always others we wouldn't trade places with. Hang in there, this too shall pass, and we can look forward to spring....hugs!

I have running water again. I will never take it for granted again. These seemingly small conveniences make our lives so much better.:woohoo1:
