Snaps....and Black Liquorish Pipes
Yeah, snaps came in a box and you could shake out a handful when needed. While traditional candy bars were a nickle, snaps were two cents a box, and seemed a candy shopper's wise choice. I remember the licorice snaps that had something like a fine coating of sugar powder or something I couldn't quite identify. I could eat some right now.

Bingo, you remember them as I do....

You can order them on line, although I cannot find that original red box they came in...

last week for my sweet treat i had 3 Caramac bars i hadnt had them in a long while,i will look out for Coconut mushrooms next .
I never liked caramac bars , far too sweet for me... but I do remember coconut mushrooms. I preferred Jap Desserts.. do you remember those?.. Little tiny candy coated Coconut squares . They were my mothers' favourite and we'd occasionally get given one... they've been off the market for years...

P'haps you;ll find some coconut mushroom at the Olde sweete shoppe..

I remember Pacers, and the last time i had Coconut mushrooms was a shop exactly like the one in your post its in a place called Southwell , its well known for the Minster.

American sweets and British sweets were and still are very different....even Canadian sweets

When my relatives who lived in Toronto would come visiting every 4 years , they would bring some sweets for us kids, but they always tasted strange to us...

I remember...tiffin bars with great affection...Fry's not Cadbury...
