Who do you trust?

I come from a presumption that people are worthy of my trust; they nearly always prove to be so.

When it comes to people in the public eye, I look for their character, just the same as I do in my private life. People who lie, cheat, steal, spread hate, are cruel, or refuse to accept responsibility for their mistakes (and we all make mistakes) get no trust or support from me. In fact, I avoid them like the plague they are.

Fortunately, there are more trustworthy than untrustworthy people around.

Great Format, so I am stealing it, Aunt Marg:

Politicians? ROFLMAO!
- Media? NONE Not a single media outlet on TV or what is known as the MSM. (Main Stream Media)
- COVID stats? Questionable (Only because I know a little more of how they figure COVID patients.) (You wouldn't believe me if I told you.)
- My own eyes? 100%
- Immediate/extended family? YES
- Two of my closest friends? My two closest friends that I ever had are dead. My two closest friends that I have now are very trustworthy.
- COVID vaccine? YES, BUT, I DON'T WANT TO BE FIRST. MAYBE A MONTH LATER. I PREFER MODERNA. (If I get a choice.)

I love it, 911! :)

Who do you trust?

Too old to trust

Kids? Are you freaking kidding?
They're the ones that'll put you in a home!

Me?
I best not
Lucky to remember why I came into a room
Sure it was the bathroom....still

Friends?
They're the same age as me!
Who knows what's gonna come outa their mouths
Whatever it is, it won't be any righter than me

God?
Yeah, I can trust God
...but gotta watch Him

My woman?
Maybe
.....but
there are times

I do trust most people, after all I have to live on this planet.
You could turn on the weather channel, and see what those lying bastards are making up. OR as Lee states you will have to trust people.. We live in a world, where we rely 100% on other people for whatever we need to keep us alive and well. If you assume that no one can be trusted, you might as well crawl in a hole, and never come out .Yeah, some of us have agendas, which tend to question their honesty. But our civilization depends on trust, we couldn't thrive in the 21st Century without it.

Definitely not politicians or the medical community. These days the medical profession is so wrapped up with what insurance wants rather than what's right for the patient.
I trust my kids and definitely my sister in law. She is a bit older than me but understands me completely. This is important to me because decisions she would make in my behalf would be based not only on my needs at the time but my age.

So far I haven't found a single person that I trust completely but I'm still lookin'.
ā€œTo be trusted is a greater compliment than being loved.ā€ ā€“ George MacDonald
ā€œOnly trust someone who can see these three things in you: the sorrow behind your smile, the love behind your anger, and the reason behind your silence.ā€
ā€œWhen you start to wonder whether you can trust someone or not, that is when you already know you donā€™t.ā€
ā€œItā€™s hard to trust when all you have from the past is evidence of why you shouldnā€™t.ā€
I think you've come up with an excellent post there, and would only query the George MacDonald one, though he's at least as likely to be right as I am of course, (I dont know who he is or was of course, so this doesn't help, but I'll check).
Still, great post in my view. :).

Politicians? Nope. Media? Not me. Covid statistics? Not so much. My own eyes? Perhaps. I trust my immediate family, and a few friends. Itā€™s a select group. These days, i take everything with a grain of salt and then some.

But when a vaccine is offered, Iā€™m taking it. Cuz living like this is unacceptable. It just is.
Way back at the dawn of time.... when I was young and still in high school when we needed the "last word" on any subject it was the encyclopedia Britanicia we trust to give us the facts, I don't know why we believed the words contained in its pages (maybe the most widely distributed encyclopedia) in any event we took its words as truth. Today as I write for my blog https://kl1hbalaska.wordpress.com/ when I have to research anything it now takes hours to check out any number of sources for what 'may' in the end be the truth.

God

My doggie mostly.
My poor deaf dog is gone as of Mother's day this year. I miss that poor dog something terrible. Born deaf and it never slowed her down, like humans she picked up senses using other means, like vibrations and facial expressions. I could come home from shopping and pull into the drive and I would see her head pop up in the window. It had to be either vibrations of the old Truck or light shadows coming from the Truck into the window or both.

As seniors, the answer to this question has as much to do with our past lives as it does with the present We've all lived quite a few years and it's obvious (from the tone of the replies) that some among us feel we've been treated poorly by those around us.

Others have a less distrustful nature, based on their past lives, and consequently don't automatically distrust from those that they meet.

Does everyone have to prove that they are harmless or are they automatically put in that category? And why?

You've asked good questions again, and I doubt I'm up to answering them fully, even if I waited to give them a lot of thought.
"Wariness" of strangers, or a little bit is very necessary, depending on circumstances, and maybe ameliorated by any mutual friends you might have introducing you.
I'm very uneasy if I meet a new neighbour's children, and they do not seem to be careful when they met me, (or other strangers), because they are obviously more likely to be taken advantage of aren't they, (its only happened to me once, and those three children had been fostered).
The question, "does everyone have to prove that they are harmless"...., raises the question how they might do that, and perhaps you shouldn't ever really assume you'd had their trustworthiness proved completely.

I have different levels of trust for different people. I trust my children the most. Family, neighbors and friends I've known for decades and trusted without incident are in the next ring out. And it goes from there until I get to the least trustworthy folks, including most but not all used car salesmen, some politicians and all Nigerian princes.

The longer I know someone, the greater their credentials, and/or my experience with them, the greater my trust.
