A Nice Walk ( with photos )

Today we walked 3.4 kilometres up on what we call ‘mountain road.’ The tamarack trees are all changing colour. They are the trees that have green needles during the summer that change to a golden colour during the fall and then they completely lose their needles during the winter.

The Tamarack tree is new to to me! We must have some in CT, but I'll have to look them up.

Our color is about gone and the leaves have been falling like crazy the past week. Guess it's over. Still need rain.
Larix laricina, commonly known as the tamarack, hackmatack, eastern larch, black larch, red larch, or American larch, is a species of larch native to Canada, from eastern Yukon and Inuvik, Northwest Territories east to Newfoundland, and also south into the upper northeastern United States from Minnesota to Cranesville Swamp, West Virginia. There is also an isolated population in central Alaska.

Thank you, PP! We do have them in CT but......

Connecticut is home to a diverse range of tree species, and larch trees are an excellent addition to any garden or landscape. However, growing and maintaining larch trees can be a challenging task, especially given the climate in Zone 6b. To help you navigate the process of growing larch trees in Connecticut, we have collaborated with Eliana Quigley, an expert on tree species that thrive in Connecticut's climate.

American and European larch are highly prized trees. They have rot resistant wood, so they're good for building. In fact, the city of Venice, Italy was built mostly with tamarack. They can grow 100 feet tall or there are forms that weep and crawl along the ground. And larch is cold hardy, being grown in Siberia.

I learn something new almost every day here.

We did a walk through through east end of Adelaide city yesterday

Adelaide city is more or less a square city it has 4 terraces named North / South /East / west, terrace each terrace is a mile long …in old measurements and each terrace has extensive gardens ..altho west terrace has a huge cemetery Dating back to the first settlement of the “white people “ in Aust

We ended up walking 4 km from the accommodation where we was staying up into the heart of the city

Photos of East Tce gardens

Reason for fencing seen in some photos is there is a famous Adelaide 500 car race on in the city next weekend https://adelaide500.com.au/event-info?ef_id=EAIaIQobChMIx9n23e3EiQMV2qtmAh3c5RpaEAAYASABEgJ5dfD_BwE:G:s&s_kwcid=AL!864!3!709891487435!p!!g!!adelaide car race!21589252457!169108642027&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAACnRu_4K6fN0ZdWir3NoDJc0V3mOd&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIx9n23e3EiQMV2qtmAh3c5RpaEAAYASABEgJ5dfD_BwE

Adelaide has a bus service that only travels to the north eastern suburbs call the O- Bahn
it’s where the bus that would normally travel in roads is adapted to travel on concrete tracks , as well as the road

it takes a lot of of traffic congestion off the roads
Photo of bus in city about to travel in a tunnel ……under the gardens pictured above

Many city living folk complained about destroying the park when it was planed to put the o~ Bahn track through east tce …so the tunnel is mostly under ground

Is this bus tracks? Thanks for sharing all your photos. The area you live looks so pretty and clean. The other day we were out driving on the highway and saw a clean up crew picking up garbage at the sides of the road.

Today was raining so we didn’t go for our usual walk. We made it a short walk and I only took one picture. The dogs aren’t fond of walking in the rain either however they did have sweaters on so their body stayed dry. We only walked 2 kilometres.

Yes the bus runs on a concrete track when it’s in the O- Bahn @PeppermintPatty but it’s just a normal bus when in the streets.

If you open the Wikipedia link ….i posted .it will show you heaps info about the bus .

Transport SA was talking about building a o- Bahn down south of the city but it’s never been built

SA is a very clean state , with lots of gardens both flowers and trees right on the edge of the city , including a huge botanic gardens right across the road on north tce , …..from the photos I’ve just posted , in the summer months the BG have outdoor movies …..

Today was a bit cool and windy. It was 9 degrees when we went on our 4 kilometre walk. We walked around the coastline. The township did some work there. The water was wearing down part of the trail so they took a bunch of trees down and brought in a bunch of boulders ( big rocks ). This built up the eroded coastline quote significantly where it was wearing down, making the path much safer.

Today was 4 degrees felt like -8. It was windy with snow squalls here and there.
Today we passed a field full of seagulls. I’m not sure why they were all there but there were hundreds of them.

We only walked for 2.5 kilometres and then went to Walmart to get a new winter jacket.
Plus today the path had other people on it cause it was the weekend. We prefer the path all to ourselves. LOL. 😂 I’m sort of kidding. 😆
