Only went roller skating once,, fell down several times on my rear, got kicked by someone .

This post made me think back to the time during war years when I was about 10 years old or so and how we all shared our roller skates and anything else we could.

I was lucky to own a pair but some friends didn't so we went around on one skate most of the time.
It was still fun.

OMG...the video in the OP is SO cute!! Thank you for posting. I'm going to have to share it with some folks. The last time I roller skated was as a child when we skated up and down the street. I didn't have the nerve to do it at the roller rink but we were already seniors when my husband donned skates and sailed around the rink. It was at a skate party for his granddaughter in Richmond, VA. There are (were) popular rinks her in New Jersey but I never went to one.

The roller rink where I volunteer has a "skate car". If you celebrate your birthday at the rink, the deejay will take you for a ride in the skate car!

It's not my birthday, yet.....but I did go for a ride!

The DARE party at the rink was a huge success! Even though there was pizza for everyone, those kids spent lots of money at the snack bar and at the Pro Shop!!!

The kids were so nice, and polite! It looked like everyone had a good time!

Roller skating has always scared me. The wheels feel like they are 10 ft. high. I have some unusual fears. Feel the same about ice skating.

I am not physically capable of such coordination. I would gladly stick to the sidelines with the nachos.

My wife enjoyed rollerskating but sadly, for her, it ended when she met me. I tried ONCE and made such a mess of it, we moved on to other enjoyments.
