Reflections of My Life

Just published a new post on my blog.

The Inspiration Of Others In Your Life
Thank you for writing your blog. It is always inspiring to me. You express yourself so well, and I feel part of your life because of it. I agree with your sentiments in this last post. Especially what you have chosen to do. "Stay positive." :)

Thank you for reading it. I may have already told you, but previously it was published as Homesteading On The Internet way back in 2003. Started out on Yahoo360, as I believe when blogs first started. I was on a very large forum at the time, Homesteading Today. I got irritated that other people would make comments that did not make sense and others would answer them for me. So I started a blog for my own way of telling what and why I do what I do.

I viewed the stats of my blog and it is still listed as Homesteading On The Internet on some other sites. What I saw though was a lot of the old homesteading blogs are either not being updated or the ones that are have changed also. Like mine. People got older and had to make a change.

I should have kept Solar Baby active because now solar is bigger than ever. When I was writing about it people were not interested. Same thing happens with so many things in my life it is not funny.

I must say I am looking forward to October. It is one of my favorite months. Love the smell of the leaves on the ground. Being able to wear regular clothes not just light things because I am so hot. Can't do it here but at my house I liked making breakfast outside over a fire in the early morning. So nice to see the forest coming to life as the critters awaken. Now this year, I am hearing the blue jays. I am excited about that because I had 4 blue jays who came to my deck for handouts all fall and winter. I called them my winter birds. Chickadees, nuthatches & wood peckers were included in that group. Sweet memories.

I couldn't stand it without the ice cream any longer. I made four batches of Keto Chow yesterday. Chocolate, Black Licorice, Strawberry Cream and Chocolate Malt (my favorite of all). I ordered more. I wasn't having it because I was saving it for when I have my dental work done. I will see about that since I am not sure when I will be having that done. I did find a dental clinic that will do it.

Anyway back to the ice cream.........I am going to try something new with it. A mix in which is after the ice cream is done you add something to it and hit remix. I am going to try it with the chocolate and add some sugar free peanut butter. 1 tablespoon is only 4.5 carbs so not too bad. I hardly get any carbs unless I have Keto Chow. It has some.

Now going to work on a new blog post. It is written. Just need to add pictures.

My apartment building is divided in half. Half is our apartments. The other half is the arts council and some other businesses and the gym building is some sort of sports club for the kids. The arts council is always using our elevator for various reasons. I hate when they do it for someone bringing in heavy equipment or furniture. It seems after anyone moves in or out or the art council lets someone move stuff in or out is when we have had elevator problems. Sometimes they are careless and bump the controls. Too much use or too heavy a load? I don't know.

Today the art council has a new tenant that is renting a space on the 3rd floor for over 2000 pieces of very large art. The artist died and now this is her estate and has to be stored somewhere. The guy in charge of it stopped to talk to me when I was outside this morning. They have been working on it all day. Since early this morning and still are working on bringing stuff in now.

Parked there all day which is where the emergency squad usually pulls in if needed. Thank God nobody needed them today. The guy in green is the guy in charge of this project.

The rules don’t apply to “ME”. It really bothers me when someone just ignores signs or good manners.

That artist must be well-known or very good, or both to have 2000 pieces stored.
He told me her name but I can't remember. The last name sounded like Moon or something like that. He said I can come upstairs to see them after they are set up.

I am trying to eat earlier in the morning. I have been doing intermittent fasting for so long that I don't really want to eat until after 11. Joe, from 2 Krazy Ketos said I am not getting enough food in. Not enough protein or fat. Women my age need more of both. So I am going to have breakfast by 9 this morning. Breakfast, then around noon I will have the keto ice cream and at four supper. That should work. Even though I am not doing intermittent fasting I still will not eat anything after 6. Joe says not to eat anything after it is dark. Has something to do with your body rhythms. I have no problem with that.

It is crazy to think I am not eating enough but Dr. Berry says that too. That is the problem with people who eat low fat or low calories. They cannot get enough protein in. And they need fat. Eating fat does not make you fat. It satisfies you so you will not be hungry later like low fat does. Your body needs fat, especially your brain. I see the difference in my skin. It is so much nicer since I added more fat and electrolytes.

So today I am working on another blog post........doing good this month on it. I was viewing my stats and I see that in 2017 I wrote only 1 post for the whole year! That was a miserable year if I remember correctly.

Cooking my supper late tonight. Right now. I had gone upstairs to see one of the guys who I am friends with. He was having trouble with his phone and had asked for my help. I had told him that I am not good on the phone. After I was here and working on my blog I got to thinking how miserable I was when my computer was down. Remembered how I figured out how to bring more browsers up on the phone. That was what he needed to know. He was glad to see me but I don't know if I actually helped him or not. Maybe.

All of that is so complicated now, and I am getting better at it, but it is a jungle. I have to do research on my computer to get info to fix my phone. Get's pretty darn frustratin'.
It is and he doesn't have a computer and doesn't know anything about using one. I had a hard time those days without mine. I would not want to be without it.

Raining this morning when I got up and still coming down. I don't mind. In fact, I like rain. I love not having my mood for the day set by the weather (it was in my previous home but not my doing). I am going to get a few things done today that have been on my list for a week. One being, cleaning the Nuwave oven. Take it apart and do a thorough cleaning. So if I do that I may as well clean the counters too.

I may have said this before, but I think it is more difficult for a man to move from his house to an apartment building. At their houses, they usually had a garage or workshop and did things out there. Mowed lawns and kept their houses in good repair. Fixed things. Took care of their cars. Some had hobbies like wood working or building things or classic cars or motorcycles. Then they move into an apartment. Usually there is no area outside to take care of. Nothing to fix. Many watch television most of the time.

I always wonder what they do in their apartments all day. My neighbor across the hall has an electric bike and no matter what the weather is, he leaves in the morning and is gone most of the day. Goes to Byrne Dairy for coffee and to meet his friend. They ride all over town hitting the thrift stores along the way. and he is 86 with swollen ankles. The friend I went to see yesterday has wood working tools and was making wood birds that he paints and hangs at his window.

For me, moving here made my life easier since I have running water and unlimited electric. But I basically do the same things I did at my house. Just on a smaller level and only for Rabbit & me. I can spend more time on my computer. Cooking for just me. I do my best to not make messes and clean as I go. Still getting rid of stuff and still have not cleaned out my storage locker. I am busy all day it seems.

Just placed a grocery delivery that will be delivered from 12-2.

59 degrees right now so I have the window open. I am wary about leaving the windows due to bugs coming in from outside. So I only open one window. I could open two but don't because I can't see that window from my computer. I watch for bugs.......especially flies trying to break in. The third window has the air conditioner in it.

Doing a bit of organizing today. Hard to keep my counter area as clear as I want it because of the small appliances. I will figure it out.

Can't you get the building to install at least one screen so you can get fresh air without bugs coming in, Would they allow you to have one custom made for just that one window. These are my favorite times to open the windows, early fall and early spring, so good to air out the house.

When we first moved here the house did not have screens. I worked my rear end off at work to win a cash prize that was spent on solar screens. The next one I also won and was able to get new carpet in most of the house. Husband never knew, I waited until he went out of town to have things done. I did want him to know about the cash. He was just not good with planning, saving for things. I was more the girl who saved where I could to pay cash, credit is not my thing.

Even today, I have plenty of money, I prefer to save and pay cash for things. Am I crazy for this?

The squirrels chewed through a couple of the window screens in my apartment and I ended up buying a couple of these old style adjustable screens.

They also have modern magnetic screens but those wouldn’t work with my windows.

I couldn’t live without fresh air, even in the winter.

I didn't think I could either. I came from a house with plenty of fresh air. But I cannot stand bugs. Flies drive me crazy. I haven't had many the last two years for some reason. My windows have good screens it is just that bugs can squeeze into the tiniest spots.
