What are you doing today 2023

The continuing saga of The Oyling's attempts to get home to Cambridge. Last night she arrived back here at 7pm after leaving at 3:30pm - only getting as far as Wigan, two stops on the train. Everything cancelled by that time. Mrs Oy had to go and get her in the car. Looks like she'll have to be taken home by car today.
 

@-Oy- Is it a long drive from your place to hers?

I'm up. I'd have slept longer if Maggiecat hadn't insisted on being fed. Darned cat!

There are things on my agenda today. Maybe they'll get done. It's supposed to be sunny but kind of chilly. Right now it's pretty nippy out there at 38F so I'll do the inside stuff and not go out to the garden until it warms up a bit.

When DD gets home from her work-away morning, we're going to Barnes & Noble so I can get a calendar. Last year I waited until after the 1st when they're half price, and there wasn't much of a selection left so it looks like I'm gonna spring for a full-price calendar.

Gotta get started. Litter box, bed, a load of laundry, dishes, the usual stuff to tidy up in The Hovel.

GIGI...curious as to why you need a calendar when you have one on your computer...:)

Because that's where I keep track of my hours at work and other things. When I'm sitting in my kitchen sipping coffee, it's right in front of me where I can see what's coming up. Besides, there's that age-old reason: I've always done it that way ;)

And, yes, there's a calendar on my computer and another one on my phone, but with the one in the kitchen, I can see it without having to do anything...like pull out my phone or get online.

So there.

The rain has stopped and I am sure I will get some of it done later in the day.

I have made daily lists for years and always felt good crossing off the 'to do' things on it but sometimes I only cross of the name of the day and put the next day's name on it. :rolleyes:

I feel exactly the same way. I could make myself useful if I rose from this chair. 😒
 
Very windy again today but no rain..thankfully. Much damage reported around the uk from the storm yesterday....of course these pictures are from the Daily Mail, and according to some deluded people on here the DM just invents things to print... but hey... I'm sure the owners of these homes wish it was invented:rolleyes:

Since my grandson was coming at Christmas, and since he is in a faze of not eating much and since most of that stuff is bread I made a batch of zucchini, carrot muffins. The veggies are hidden and they are delicious however up turned the nose no matter what grandma magic I used to get him to have a taste.
You know what I say when that happens?
More for me!
Enjoying them for breakfasts during the holidays. Too bad for you little man. 👦 😋

As bad as that news above is, it helps me put things into perspective. I was finding the new year bearing down on me fast and beginning to fret about reassessing my future. 2024 is not a milepost year for me but I see the next decade marker of age just ahead.
 
OMG @hollydolly! Those pix break my heart for the people who live there. Bad enough that it happens, but in winter it's even worse:(

@Widow of Vietnam Vet I've done a whole bunch of the things on my Thursday list and won't have to cross out the day and write in the next day instead:ROFLMAO:

So far I've showered, started a load of laundry, emptied the litter box, made the bed, washed dishes and have been out in the garden cutting back dead stuff that's been dead way too long without being cleaned up. I even put new batteries in two of my solar garden lights that were starting to fade.

Next up is vacuuming. That'll take at least five minutes, yanno, because The Hovel is soooo big. When that's done, I'm gonna reward myself with a cup of coffee stirred with the last of my chocolate spoons. Chocolate spoons are the bomb, lemme tell ya.
 
So far I have had coffee, edited and organized photo files, organizing a stack of pictures I had on my vanity, throwing away papers, letters, pictures, etc. things I have kept for no good reason.......sentimental I suppose. But when I am dead and gone someone else will just put them in the dumpster so I guess I can do it myself. Taking a walk to the dumpster right now then checking my mail. That's it for now.
 
Hollydolly, how sad for all those people whose homes were damaged or destroyed.

Today is the first day in a week that I am leaving the house. Starting to feel better and have a vet appointment for one of the dogs. If I feel up to it I need to do my monthly grocery shopping. I’ll see how I feel when I get the dogs home.,
