The Day of the Jackal
Think it’s on Peacock in the USA
Thanks, @Marcy Sheiner; maybe I'll give it another try when my stress levels are a little lighter.@KSav: I hear you and not trying to persuade you otherwise, but I watched the entire thing and actually loved it.
I absolutely loved “New Tricks”! After watching the last episode I found myself missing the characters so much. For the last few months I've been watching "New Tricks," a BBC program, streaming on hulu. A cast of eccentric characters working unsolved or open cases for the police. 3 old geezers and a younger woman who's the boss. Has a great theme song and I appreciate that it's all crime without gore.
Agree with your assessment on The Diplomat. Yet I’m still sorta enjoying watching it. Still on season 1.The chief problem with the story is that it is semi-ridiculous.
I didn't make it through the first episode of St. Denis. It's pure nonsense.Tried watching St. Denis (NBC and Peacock); couldn't get into it, bailed before the end of the first episode. It was just meh IMO (which is too bad because there are a lot of good actors in it; they should've hired better writers but knowing the moneybags pod people who run the network, were too cheap to.)
Agree with this, I can’t think about octopuses the same way since seeing this documentary. My Octopus Teacher is a great documentary
I liked Justified. The other two series... not so much. You're right about My Octopus Teacher. That was great!I think I've posted this previously but in case this is a new thread here's 3 quite worthy of binging (in no special order):
Justified
Bosch
Lucifer
My Octopus Teacher is a great documentary (this one does not disappoint).
Just in case you have Walmart Plus membership (sort of like Amazon Prime), Paramount+ comes free with that. Walmart doesn't advertise it much. I wouldn't have known if I hadn't chanced on the email about it.I may see if Paramount has a Black Friday deals
Glad to hear good reports about Landman. I'm a big BBT fan. Plan to start it tonight. They've released two at once, then one weekly afterwards.Just watched Yellowstone episode 2 of the new season - love how they show more of the 6666 Ranch, where my Grandpa worked as a cowboy before I was even born.
It was followed by Landman with Billy Bob Thornton. I think Landman will do really well. Very, very good. Permian Basin oil business with a little cartel activity.
...
I don't have HBO, but I've heard a lot of great things about Penguin, including from my favorite hard-core critic.Penguin on HBO (or Max). Loving it. Remarkable performance by Colin Farrell.
Yep he would always come home smelling like burn hair from branding. He was a real character! He would disappear down to Mexico for "cultural exchange" which infuriated my Grandma!Glad to hear good reports about Landman. I'm a big BBT fan. Plan to start it tonight. They've released two at once, then one weekly afterwards.
BTW that's interesting about your Grandpa's working at that ranch. And I haven't even seen Yellowstone...
I thought it was good, even better than the original. The movie Twister is on Peacock....
I found it boring.Agree with your assessment on The Diplomat. Yet I’m still sorta enjoying watching it. Still on season 1.
I too am watching this, and loving it. I read an article that praised it for being much better than the usual sloppy portrayals of The Troubles.I started watching Say Nothing on Friday and am now on episode 6. It is streaming on Hulu but is an FX show. I never read the book but from what I understand the book was very in depth about the subject and the TV show just covers a small part of the book. The show does not hold back on the subject matter so there is a lot of violence and cursing. Once I am finished with the show I probably will read the book.
Synopsis:
"The TV series "Say Nothing" is a gripping historical drama that delves into the tumultuous era of the Troubles in Northern Ireland. It follows the lives of individuals caught up in the conflict between Irish Catholics and British Protestants, particularly focusing on the involvement of the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA).
The series is based on the non-fiction book "Say Nothing: A True Story of Murder and Memory in Northern Ireland" by Patrick Radden Keefe. It explores the abduction and murder of Jean McConville, a widowed mother of ten, by the IRA. The show weaves together the personal stories of various characters, including those involved in the IRA, the British Army, and the civilian population, as they navigate the complex and often brutal realities of the conflict. I finished it last night. It's one of the best "mini series" I have watched in awhile. I will be reading the book sometime in the future. I read a couple of reviews criticizing that the show leaned towards giving some sympathy to the sisters but I didn't think it did. I thought the show did it's best keeping a neutral point of view. I might feel differently after reading the book.I too am watching this, and loving it. I read an article that praised it for being much better than the usual sloppy portrayals of The Troubles.
Great pictures, Tex. Heh, heh, I'm sure grandpa went down to Mexico for R&R, and possibly a few beers... I could definitely be wrong.Yep he would always come home smelling like burn hair from branding. He was a real character! He would disappear down to Mexico for "cultural exchange" which infuriated my Grandma!
