How is your day Today, plans and achievements 2024....

Just been checking on DD's dad, the one who has prostate cancer and emphysema .. he's just been released from a week's hospital stay after his lungs flooded. That has to be terrifying..

Apparently this has happened before several years ago... but he can't get out and about on his own. now, has stopped driving through lack of confidence he tells me,. i told him he should sell his car before it loses much more value and just use uber on the very odd occasions he needs to go out.. Doctors, etc..not sure if he will, because being as poorly as he is, everything is a mammoth task.

He won't let anyone else do anything for him if it involves them going into his flat and that includes me.. he says I would be horrified at how unkempt it's become... and he's very ashamed of it. I've told him I'll clean it for him,,..but no .. he tried getting people in to clean and then decided he couldn't even allow them to see it.. so it's all very difficult..

DGD's team did not win but all had a good time and lots of fun. She was the goalie and did a good job. This game was All Stars so many good players. We had planned to hang out for a while but the girls wanted to stay and watch the next game. They are home schooled so they need to take advantage of being with friends when possible. We are understanding grandparents and let them stay and have fun.
Truly, we were tired and not sad to go home. 🙂

Folks..I. have to apologise for my keyboard. ..and the continual incorrect spellings, I'm really fed up with it. I've tried everything, changing things in firefox and in chrome settings, ... followed youtube instructions ... even bought a different keyboard and it 's STILL making horrible spelling errors.... my spell check doesn't even work so I'm not even getting it flagged by red underlining... so just so you all know I'm not dyslexic, I'm sure you know that already but it's a real PITA to me as much as all of you trying to read it..:(

I had an interesting couple of days this weekend. Friday I had to be home so the intercom system could be installed. I had the most interesting conversation with Jared, the young man who did the installation. It started because I told him he looks like my (youngest) grandson. We covered a lot of topics in a short amount of time, including family, creativity, reincarnation and having goals & plans in life. At some point, I'll probably make a separate thread about it. Something is wrong with the system, only in this building he said, so there's a buzzing sound when trying to talk to whoever is outside (my son and I tested it out). Jared said they'll be back to fix that problem.

Saturday I had a lab appointment in the morning. The tech, another tech and a patient who was in the room across from mine got a kick out of me when I started slapping the area where my vein is. It's not where they go to get blood on most people, it's on top of my arm. From the time we left the house, we were smelling smoke. We left the lab which is in another town, about 12 minutes away and went to two other towns; we smelled smoke in all of them.

Friday and especially Saturday were phone days. I was on the phone for a couple of hours Friday and Saturday with "T", the friend who's doing my album art. She's the one who produced my music videos. T keeps me on the phone while she's editing and sends me drafts to preview. She's got one more change to make and I really love what she came up with. I also had long conversations with my BFF and my granddaughter.

This morning I made sure the kitchen counter and sink were disinfected so my son could prep the vegetables and make his bean soup. Otherwise, I mostly relaxed, watched T.V, played games on the phone. and napped.

I think we have a recent thread on keyboards that might help. 🤪

DH never used to get out and enjoy the Veteran's Day "perks" around town. When I was working I would tell him about all the different promos like a free breakfast etc. No interest.
He has told me he wants to make the rounds this year. I guess a free donut called to him.
To all who served in all countries:salute.jpg

Today is going to be another pretty day. I'm not sure, but I think I might take my Mom into town. Have the bail money ready.....we'll probably need it!

I took all the nuts out of the freezer (30 lbs or so) and am about to assemble a big batch of my version of mixed nuts. Those go into plastic jars that fit nicely in the unused space behind the kegs in our kegerator. I do this a few times a year because DH & I eat a handful of mixed nuts every day and standard nut mixes are overly salty.

When done, I'll weigh, measure and record the remainder to see what's still needed for holiday baking.
Well I sorted through the nuts, plowing through most I don't need for holiday baking. The back portion of the kegerator is full, and I do mean FULL. Likely won't need to repeat this task for 5-6 months.

One hangup. I didn't have any peanuts! Gasp. I left some room in the top of each jar to add peanuts, but unless I develop a big head of steam, I'll add them one a jar at a time as I move them into the pantry, rather than doing all at once.

As hoped, there's now a fair amount of space in the kegerator's freezer section, which is my go-to storage area for pizza-cookie supplies. The big upright freezer still needs purging to accommodate leftover pizzas when I start making those in a couple of weeks.

@Pam that looks so pretty and peaceful. If you'd just given me a little notice, I'd have joined you ;)

Went with DD and DGD to run a couple of errands this morning. We stopped by Aldi where I replenished my supply of stollen bites...not a whole cake, just bite-sized pieces. OMG! They are so good. And they aren't Aldi-inexpensive! Since DD paid, I should've got two packages.

As soon as we got home, I brewed a cup of coffee and sat out on the teeny, tiny patio with the coffee and not one, but two bites. Oink.

Well, my lemon bars are done, can't find my last packet of yeast so no bread baking, hung my bird feeder and filled it....waiting for birds. Swept the deck.

While tearing apart the cabinet looking for the lost packet of yeast, I actually straightened it out. Threw away the large basil plant from outside and washed the pot. (I have more growing in the kitchen window from cuttings.)
