How is your day Today, plans and achievements 2024....

@Pam that looks so pretty and peaceful. If you'd just given me a little notice, I'd have joined you ;)

Went with DD and DGD to run a couple of errands this morning. We stopped by Aldi where I replenished my supply of stollen bites...not a whole cake, just bite-sized pieces. OMG! They are so good. And they aren't Aldi-inexpensive! Since DD paid, I should've got two packages.

As soon as we got home, I brewed a cup of coffee and sat out on the teeny, tiny patio with the coffee and not one, but two bites. Oink.
You got out at least, GG. :)

Used the Epson FotoScanner to do some old family photos. These are mainly of my older daughter so I’ll be sending the originals to her. I have a post office box that I’ll fill some other things that I’ve been saving up for her.

It’s amazing how fast the scanner works. The hardest part is prepping and sorting.

Sat quietly at 11 for the two minutes of silence.

Went to my produce store and Aldi this morning. Both stores were jammed - lots of people off for the holiday, I guess. No biggie... I don't mind shopping in a crowd.

After I got home I got a text from Walmart that my pickup is ready. That can wait until tomorrow when I drop by the library (closed today).

Eating a little soup for lunch and am about to settle into a book. Life is good.

Waiting for the coal / log / potato man to arrive with a load of softwood logs. He just tips 2 cubic metres into the yard and then we spend most of the day stacking them under cover to season for next winter. Some supermarkets and hardware stores sell logs in bags, but they're 10 times the price of buying them bulk and I suspect that they're only for decoration round a disused fireplace..

Came home last night after spending Sunday night and all day Monday at son's home to watch grandson on Veterans Day. Today I have some brief chores, including contacting AccessARide, my nemesis, today for rides tomorrow Wednesday to watch grandson after school. Grandson, at six, starting to change rapidly. Have to know him while I still can. He thinks I'm funny, I'm good at making people laugh. I want him to always remember me, I'm sticking around, best I can, for that reason.

well it's a glorious day..cold but sunny.. I got up dressed and ready to go out, and before I did I got a message from the buyer of my sofa, she needed the address and phone number to collect.. so I replied to her but ebay blocked it saying personal info wasn't permitted .

Long story short, after finally getting hold of a real person to talk to after jumping through hoops.. they tell me they've stopped allowing sellers to send their address through the ebay messaging system until the buyer has paid through ebay..essentially preventing anyone from paying cash on collection. So.. I had to let the seller know she had to pay through ebay before I can send her my address for her to collect... absolute nuts.. and it took best part of an hour to get that sorted.

Then as I got myself ready to leave, I got a message saying my new Vacuum cleaner is going to be delivered between 1 and 2pm... which is also nuts because I ordered it on Monday.. they said it would cost £12.99 for next day delivery... or free if I chose up to 3 days.. so i chose the latter, and instead it's coming after just one day. ..so I'm very peased I didn't pay for next day delivery because I'm getting it for free anyway..

However by the time it gets here it will be just an hour and half from being dark if it doesn't get here until 2pm .. so it will be hardly worth me going out.

Now I'm all dressed up and nowhere to go....:(😀

Do you remember the days when you dialled a number, I mean with your finger on a rotary dial? You heard the phone on the other end ring no more than twice before a voice would say: "Good morning, Blogs & Co here, how may I help you?" It was answered swiftly and always polite and courteous. What happened?

That happens when the driver has another delivery in close proximity to your own.

You might be lucky by calling the vendor of the vacuum cleaner and ask if you might call the driver to meet him on his round. Some companies use their own fleet others use a carrier. Often the driver is given a company phone, it's the same gizmo that you sign when the delivery requires a signature.

I did something similar, explaining that I needed to have my old MG in the garage before taking it to a classic car show the following day. The fellow got so excited by the photo of the car that I sent him, my delivery arrived within the hour.

On my early walk at 6:45, temp was 37 with a slight y,felt colder as I walked around the building twice before breakfast. I didn't receive my NYT yesterday because our local paper, Buffalo News doesn't print papers on holidays. This started July 4th,but I was pleasantly surprised with today's NYT,was yesterday's. I spent 40 min yesterday online doing the daily crossword puzzle, which I finished
Today my friend, Chris who used to work at same hospital I did is coming for lunch at 12:15.I would see her couple times a month walking where I used to live. I ran into her the day of my apt closing, she hasn't seen my new apt, look forward to seeing& giving her a tour of the place

I am thrilled with my window bird feeder! I affixed it to the glass door late yesterday and only noticed 3 visits, but I was busy in other area of my home.

This morning there was plenty of action. The tufted titmouse, the finch and sparrows. Only 2 at a time can fit on the perch, so there were some squabbles. I saw a large black bird on the deck; maybe a crow!

I haven't set out peanuts for the squirrels yet this morning, so a few were cleaning up seed that fell to the deck. One noticed the feeder, too high to jump to and tried to climb up the metal slider frame, but it was a no go.

Going out now with some peanuts to scatter on the deck. I', so happy I got this feeder.

No , they said they couldn''t do that..it has to be delivered to the house and photographed in the doorway or I have to collect at a DPD drop off point..nearest one is 12 miles away... it's aalmost 2pm now so he should be here very soon

Today must be a day where things don't go as straightforward as they should. I was in the garden after hanging the washing out on the line.. and the doorbell rang..it was my neighbour, she said she thought it best to let me know that a delivery driver had just dropped off a box in front of my side gate...( not the vacuum cleaner)

There's a clear sign on my gate asking delivery drivers to please put the parcels OVER the gate ... but no.. he'd left it in front of the gate in full view of any thieves... and I didn't even get a delivery notice on my phone or email .... if my neighbour hadn't told me I would be no wiser ,:oops:

There you are, what did I tell you ?.. Vac has been delivered, I opened the outer box only to discover they've sent me a corded one instead of cordless !!!:oops: I've just spent 10 mins on the phone to the company, they say they can't arrange a return until they get notification that it's been delivered, from DPD... so to call back before 7pm tonight or tomorrow....

I told you this is the day when things are just all going awry....

@hollydolly I heard you thinking The Words all the way over here across the pond! ;)

If you're still all dressed up is there anywhere you can go and still be home before dark? Like a pub close enough to get a good, stiff drink?
Well yes I could still go to a pub but I don't drink alcohol..so that would be a waste of time. :D

it's 3pm now, so it'll be dark soon.. I really wanted to go out and take some pictures in the sunshine, it's gonna be cloudy tomorrow so no chance then..also I wanted to buy some milk... I might go into town and get milk later tonight after the rush hour traffic has calmed down in the roads into town... and after I've spoken again to the Vac company..

Yesterday was a productive day! And no bail money was required!!!

My Mom's appointment was in the afternoon, and I needed to be home earlier than usual, so we decided to try to squeeze in a few small errands first, before her appointment, then just just call it a day and go home.

Our first stop was very quick! We went to the bank...but they were closed for Veteran's Day. (I knew that!)

We weren't sure what to do next, so I very spontaneously pulled into a furniture store....one that we had never been to before. Mom desperately needs a new recliner. She is so tiny that most chairs are too big for her, and furniture shopping is tiring. Eventually, we stopped looking for a chair because she lost interest in "shopping" for one.

Well, it was our lucky day!!! I didn't know it, but this store leases furniture, then sells the used items. My Mom would NEVER by used furniture! However, they had a brand new chair, sitting on "hold" for someone who never came back with a deposit.....and it was just her size!!!!
The price was decent and they would deliver it for free. I told them that she can't get anyone to haul out her old chair. He said that, as long as their truck was already there, his guys would take the old chair to the Salvation Army for her! Wow! Then I said "you know, it's Veterans Day.....don't we get a discount?". The financial guy hesitated, then said " OK, I'll give you $100.00 off ". So on Thursday, my Mom will finally get a new chair, delivered for free, free removal of the old chair, all at $100 dollar off!!!

My Mom has trouble using the gas pumps because they are computerized. So we always go to town in her car, and then I can fill he tank. That was our next stop. We have a new station that is easy in, easy out, and cheap!!!!! So that was another quick stop.

Now it was time for her appointment. Just an eye pressure check, no doctor. We were out in less than 1/2 hour!

From there, we headed home, stopping at

along the way. We got a lot done, and I was home at a good time!

In the evening, Dio and I finished watching Wind River. It's a very good movie, based on true events, written by Taylor Sheridan (Yellowstone).

has been in the house with us all morning. He's in his basket making biscuits!!!

Time for me to get going. Today will be my usual day in town....gym, Library, and pizza. 🍕
