How is your day Today, plans and achievements 2024....

It's so cold in here that I'm wearing my fingerless gloves.

Today's agenda includes a haircut. Gotta get a wiggle on and get there by 9 when they open because it's gonna be a busy day for them, and they don't take appointments. My cutter is very popular so if I can get there when the door is unlocked, it'll only take a few minutes.

@Llynn Crappy news; I'm pulling for you!

@Ken N Tx Holy cow! That's one handsome son you've got:love:

Still raining on and off. Not complaining.

The birds have been flocking to the feeder. I think I've created a monster, lol. I think I'll back off filling it for a day or two. It's still mild enough for them to feed in the wild.

May go out to look at new winter boots, later today.

Have a great day, All!

I was wearing mine last night indoors too...sooo cold..... I sometimes wear the compression fingerless ones.. and other times i wear the ones that are non-slip they're easier to type with.. but oh gosh it was freezing last night.

I had 4 layers on on top.. and 2 below... ,,gone are the days pre covid when we never gave a thought to putting the heating on... now it's so expensive, it's ruinous to turn it on unless we're in danger of dying from the cold..

Is your new little heater working well for you? I was praying it might work for you!

I don't know..it just arrived today. It's not owning heating appliances that's the problem it's the cost of running them

Our utilites shot up in price when the Russinas and Ukrainians started their war. , now with what looks like WW3 starting, goodness knows if we'll get any gas or elctricity supplies at all

SO had a good breakfast and off he was to his play date!
I have pushed filing of paperwork and manicure. It is a toss up:>)
Taking a close look at a sewing machine a friend loanded be. After the close look I will invoke the Southern Mating Call - Honey!!! SO is pretty good with those beasts.

Well it's only 3.30 but it;s almost dark due to the wet weather, so I've shut the blinds.
The people who bought the desk, were super pleased with it.. they said it looked brand new.. they really got a bargain.....and they knew it..

...but I wouldn't dream of selling anything that didn't look pretty perfect tbh....and I do look after all my things...

Happy Saturday Nov 23rd morning, SFers!

Had my colonoscopy on Thursday - all went well. Most of my medical appointments are now complete. A retest on some blood work is scheduled for next month, but barring any problems rearing their ugly heads, I'm good to go until this time next year. Won't need a mammogram or colonoscopy then though. Just an annual physical and standard blood tests.

Grocery shopped yesterday in packed stores. Guessing my novel idea to go before the TG rush wasn't quite so novel. No biggie - all check stands were open and shoppers were in happy moods.

Have some laundry and other things on my agenda today. The forecast for rain has disappeared without coming to fruition. Sigh... Maybe some will come next week but not holding my breath .

Thank you

DD and I had an adventure this afternoon. We went to AtHome to browse...mmhmm ;). That place is acres and acre of everything under the sun.

Of course, the first things inside the door were Christmas trees and decorations of all sorts. Hundreds! Aisle after aisle of every kind of decoration you can dream up. We spent almost two hours wandering the aisles and oohing and aahing over stuff but bought very little. DD got a swag of ornaments to use on her mantel and a pump bottle of a good-smelling lotion. I bought a set of oblong Pyrex storage containers that can be used in the oven.

We proceeded to a very long checkout line. There were about 10 checkout registers, and we were almost up when the fire alarms went off and managers were everdamwhere yelling to evacuate the store. No smoke or anything, just alarms. We looked at each other and abandoned our cart where it was...along with everybody else in the line.

There were fire trucks all around the store but none of the firemen seemed to be in much of a hurry🤷‍♀️. We decided to just wait in the car until it was determined to be a big or not-so-big deal and either closed the store or let us back in.

After about 45 minutes, there was an all-clear, the trucks left, and the doors opened. We made a bee-line for our cart (so did everybody else!) and reclaimed our place in line. It took another 45 minutes to reboot their computer system and get the checkout lines started again.

While waiting in line, DD struck up a conversation with the lady behind us who mentioned a 10% off total purchase deal if she signed up online. Did that, of course, and it's good forevermore when we go back to the store.

Anyway, we left home at noon and didn't get home until 4. Whew! We were gonna be real unhappy if that place had closed for the day after spending all that time wandering the aisles.

I ground up cranberries, oranges, and cut up grapes. So now I'll be ready to make cranberry nut bread later this week, and also my favorite cranberry 'salad' (whipped cream with chopped up nuts and fruits like crushed pineapple, cranberries, and grapes).

My weight watchers app bummed me out by announcing that I have met the goal I set (10 lbs down since last May), but it is hard to feel happy about it because I know I'll be gaining weight enjoying all the holidays. Oh well, to get the half price sale last May I had to sign up for a year, so I'll have until May to try to re-achieve my goal.

It's 9.20am... the storm which kept me awake half the night is still raging !

I could hear banging, and pinging, and crashing through the night. Now I've moved into the back bedroom every sound from the garden is heard during the high winds and torrential rain.

I full expected to see a fence panel down when I opened the blinds this morning.. but thank the good lord it's all ok.. just a floral wreath off the Shed door.. and a few pots thrown around... so I went out and picked those up. However the storm is due to continue for the rest of the day...

I'm thankful I got all the trees and high shrubs cut back in July

Yesterday was cold but, despite the howling wind outside, this morning feels quite mild although, I expect it will get colder later.

Several years ago, I injured my knee and used a heated cushion to help with the pain while it healed, since then, I have been a big fan of heated stuff which costs pennies to run. I think the heated throw is probably the most useful as it keeps you warm on the sofa and, if need be, you can chuck it over the bed as an extra layer.

I want to pop to the shop and pick up some fresh vegetables and a parcel but, if the wind gets too lively, we will skip it until tomorrow. The parcel contains a couple of Christmas presents so doesn't need to be collected today, although there is one little, teeny, tiny thing for me in the parcel so, I might make a dash out later.

I don't mind the winter weather as long as we don't need to travel anywhere. As much as I like the warm, sunny weather, there is something comforting about winter woollies.

Have a good Sunday everyone. :)
