What are things that everyone ought to understand, but many don't?

Did you miss the in my opinion part? In my OPINION you facts are wrong, in your OPINION your facts are right. We agree to disagree. 🤡. Stalemate. 🤪
Opinions are not facts. A fact can be validated and when we state something that can not be validated that is only an opinion.

Saying the Bible is a must-read for everyone is an opinion. Saying the Bible gives us a mythology is a fact.

Personal budgeting. I don't understand how people can constantly overspend and not understand why they can't get out of debt.
I would have to assume that there can be quite a difference when discussing personal budgeting if you are deciding whether to take 1 or 2 cruises this year - - - or for others, which of your kids most needs new sneakers for gym this year. Especially if the rent's going up as well as food prices.

I know, I know, it's tough for everyone but being somewhere in between these two examples, I think I'd prefer to be discussing the cruises as compared to discussing the price of a lb. of butter.

I agree with your observation.

Sadly, debt hits the person with the least the hardest.

It took me a long time to wiggle my way out of worthless consumer debt and free myself from interest payments.

The sad thing for me is that each generation has to learn these things for themselves.

The good news is that we all seem to make it!!!

Value oneself and care for one's bodily health, mental health and understand one's spiritual connections and interdependence with every other sentient being.
Behave with people as you'd wish they behave with you.
Do the best with what one has to work with and create more than one consumes.
Well, I created 3 children, but I have not consumed any children so, I guess I am good 😊

America needs to understand that we’re more divided than ever, and listening to each other, even when we disagree, is the only way forward. America needs to understand that empathy and open dialogue are key to bridging divides, not just picking sides.
America needs a better education system because a lot of people who read what you wrote, if they can read, wouldn’t understand it. Teachers are not heroes. Teaching is a job, just like digging a ditch is a job.

People need to do their jobs, if that happens, America will improve.

Directions and I don’t mean how to get somewhere.

Why is it so hard to follow simple directions. If the gate is open leave it open, if it’s closed, close it and BTW, why is it so difficult to figure out the chain/snap to close it.

The “stupid” list goes on, but this ^^^ makes my point - at least it should.

Our healthcare system is out of control.
There are 3,699 Medicare Advantage plans nationwide for 2025, and trying to fully understand any one of them almost takes a medical degree.
Then when you get comfortable with a doctor, either the plan changes, or your doctor no longer accepts the plan. Then you need to get your records over to your new doctor who is going to require new tests and blood work.

Then there are those copays and coinsurance and what's covered and what isn't, and if you move, you may have to start over.
It's stressful and you need an interpreter to guide you through, and who is not trying to promote their plan.

that goes for just about everything.

Perhaps the thing everyone ought to understand is that there are not absolutes.
Just for the sake of argument. I think it is absolutely sure none of us avoid death. I strongly suspect the scientific warming about too much carbon in the air is also an absolute truth like two plus two is four. And if you keep ordering books from thriftbooks, they keep coming up in the bar of advertisements enticing a person to buy more. 🤩

Except for death; that's pretty absolute: nobody gets out of here alive. (Or has yet, anyway. I hear that the billionaires are working on it, though, And only for themselves and their cronies, of course.)
Oh boy, before we stop death, we better stop aging. I am falling about like my old car. Not all the parts can be replaced and some problems we have to live with. From your experience, I think we can agree living with some problems isn't a lot of fun.

I studied gerontology (the science of aging) at the local university and there is a theory that we grow older but not younger. I don't think there are any serious arguments against that. :ROFLMAO:

At the very real risk of getting into pet peeve territory (and I make no apology beforehand), that cute little appendage that sticks out from your steering column? You know, that thing that can move up and down, but doesn't on many cars because its driver doesn't know or understand the usefulness of said appendage?

Yeah, that thing. It's called a "turn indicator" and it's meant to communicate to others around you what you intend to do. But sadly, far too many drivers conveniently forget or disregard what I see to be common courtesy. Weaving in and out of traffic without signaling, as if to say, "I'm FAR more important than YOU and where I'm going is FAR more important than where YOU'RE going."

Actually, the opposite is true.

This is why Comcast is trying to rework MSNBC, CNBC, etc. and isolate them into a package they could sell off or just drop. ABC is hinting about the end of garbage like "The View."

Their audience became smaller and smaller and smaller. People no longer have to deal with censorship, cancellation, or other fears any longer. As a result it has become very clear that America was never all that divided in the first place. People can exert their rights to speech again and they are speaking.

It's a new day, and people feel more united than ever as we return to normalcy.
😣 We disagree a lot on that. I am 100% in favor of censorship. I do not believe freedom of speech means the freedom to say anything a person wants to say because that can be very immoral and telling lies is very harmful. Freedom without a sense of responsibility and morality leads to anarchy and anarchy is not a desirable civilization.
