@hollydolly Sounds to me like people are pretty much the same everywhere when it comes to holidays. The store was packed full this morning, and we're expecting the same tomorrow. We'll be open New Year's Day, and it'll probably be packed again.

When I bought scratch-off lottery tickets for stocking stuffers, I bought a couple too many. Scratched them off and actually won a few bucks. I thought it was only a dollar...turned out to be $6. Yay me.

It's so cold and dreary that I drank my after-work coffee in the kitchen. You know it's gotta be miserable outdoors when I don't drink my coffee on the patio. It was more pleasant when I got up so at least was able to drink the first cup of the day out there.

Dunno what I'm gonna do for the rest of the day. TV and solitaire?

Drat. It's not Sunday :( and that means another day of work before a day off. I've sort of cut my own hours from six to five. Sir told me that I could leave when my work was done, so I do. That one hour makes a world of difference. When it's really necessary, I stay and tough it out, but if the bakery won't come crashing down if I leave, I just march my bony self out the door.

Sir doesn't want to officially schedule me for five hours because management would probably decide to take away that extra hour in the bakery for each of the five days that I work.

What is more important: reading "Seniorforums" or paying attention to my pups? (The wet spot on my shirt is saliva from Heidi; she thinks my shirt is my skin and licks it.)

OK, one rain front just passed, and the next one is an hour away. Temperature outside is 51.8 which is pretty cool, but the pups don't need a warm cover till it gets down into the 30ties. So, let's go!

Yeah, it’s been a day….

The on-call phone went off before 5am, I had back-to-back admissions at the hospital, and it’s now 7:30 pm and I just got in from seeing my last patient. Still have to document it all (tomorrow!!)

I don’t think it will take very big rocks to rock me to sleep tonight!

@hollydolly What makes the swarms of customers so surprising to me is that almost nothing here will close early tomorrow and almost nothing will be closed on New Year's Day. It's not like nobody will be able to buy anything. Maybe they're all just having parties here and stocking up. Who knows, but you'd think we're expecting a blizzard.

Imagine my surprise when I was handed my mail this afternoon. Mail on Sunday? Nope. Today is Saturday. The notification from Social Security finally got here. Usually it's in the mail by the first of December. In any case, it's confirmation of the COLA increase for next year.

Next year...um...that's the day after tomorrow!

Today I treated my youngest grandson and honorary daughter (his mom) to lunch. We went to a diner the next town over and each of us enjoyed our food so much! My grandson had their specialty chocolate pancakes, HD had a Rueben sandwich. I ordered stuffed mushrooms (with crab meat) and a baked potato. They were good sized mushrooms and there was only supposed to be three of them. But one of my HD's superpowers is getting free food that she doesn't even have to ask for. So there were four mushrooms on my plate. I only ate 1-1/2 of them.

After we left the diner we stopped at Dollar Tree where we each did a minimal amount of shopping. All I wanted were a couple of boxes of Crunch & Munch. I was surprised at how short the lines were. After I got home, I was going to do stuff on my tablet but wound up falling asleep. No surprise though because it was hard for me to wake up to get ready to go to lunch and once I got home I did feel a bit tired.

I finished the baked potato and other half of the stuffed mushroom for dinner. The rest of the night will be SF and TV time, as well as finishing up my quarterly and annual accounting.

Due to covid, couldn't get to bank in time for Christmas, so I am preparing tips for our fabulous maintenance staff under the banner of HAPPY NEW YEAR. Even though they get a big bonus from our co-op board, I really love these guys as individuals. They are so helpful and do a very good job throughout the year. One is so jolly, always makes me laugh and brings my spirits up to see him.

Then I will do my stack of dishes before I run out of plates & silverware to eat with.

Was looking at my grandson yesterday and said aloud "Why do I love you so much?" and he answered "Because we're FAMILY." Don't know where he got that from, but Wow, it sure felt Good!!

I've just Vac;d all the way though the house.. and then started deep cleaning my kitchen. I've got about half way through cleaning but I've stopped cuz my back hurts.. . I'll just have an hour rest and then start again. I've got almost everything done except the top of the cabinets and the extractor hood, and floor washing, so there's not much to do to finish..

Got a delivery of vitamins arriving today..I'm nearly out...

Currently it's verrry windy.. but it's sunny.. I should have chose to go out today instead of yesterday..but apparently the rain will start again at 5pm.. so I'm taking advantage of the sunshine..to have all the windows and back door open until then...

I'm going to start a new Daily Thread for 2024... but please keep posting on this one until tomorrow...
