This reminds me so much of Tithonia diversifolia or Bolivian Sunflower but I can't seem to track down a photo. But in looking I came across this cactus flower which many have found humorous for some reason.

This shows the plant itself from 15 years ago. Now it has several columns that are about 8 feet tall.

That is just stunning. I think it may be Crinodendron hookerianum which gave up on life in my care but seems to do well in Washington gardens. I wish …

Peonies in my friend’s Seattle garden

I love these! These are the ones I had at my house. Their fragrance is divine.

Still haven't found the Bolivian Tithonia pictures but here is the Mexican Sunflower, T. rotundafolia. Starting with a superior pic from the internet.

As with all daisy-like flowers it is popular with pollinators.

My favorite thing about them is how the stem leading to each flower starts narrow and flares out in Dr Seuss fashion.s

My lane in Spring.....

The Echium hybrid known as "Mr Happy" grows fairly tall this one is about 16 feet.

That is the stalk of course. The flowers are tiny but there are soooo many of them. They open more red and finish blue giving a purple appearance.

A couple of pink flowering Echium wildpretii growing beside a Mr Happy. Smaller but showier.
