A flower a day ...

Absolutely love that clematis! So subtle color with just the anthers (or whatever those are) in the center. I like white flowers generally.

My flower for today is a tubular flower in a rich navy blue, much beloved by the humming birds, Iochroma cyaneum.

These only do well in mild temperatures, neither too hot nor too cold. In heat they can drop all their flowers. In cold weather it can die back to the ground, though that hasn't happened in a long time). This one is my favorite color but I've also seen it in salmon and in white. I also grow two different purple ones and the orange one which is a different species.

That bottom one sneaks in another flower which no longer lives there but I loved the two together.

Was I mistaken HC, didn't you say you employed a cleaner and a gardener ?
Indeed, but we still have more than enough to do with changing things like bed linen, towels, soiled clothing, then of course there's catering. This house was a great find, when we were younger, but the amount of bedrooms, bathrooms and all, in old age can still be demanding even with help. Still when we put this place on the market it will provide a decent nest egg.

I donā€™t know what this isā€¦ I just know itā€™s ā€˜purdyā€™. Taken in Laughlin, Nevada

I don't know what it is either but that is a very nice, saturated yellow.

Here is my flower for today, a SW native from the USA which I've heard called Red Rocket, though I've never found that in writing. It does grow very narrow but tall with lots of red flowers provided it gets enough water.

The botanical name if you were looking to grow it is Ipomopsis rubra.

You've been making up for lost time and I love the flora from down under so thank you. But we try to limit ourselves to one flower a day just to keep it easy to see everyone's posts. Looking forward to tomorrow or whenever you have time.

From the OP: "Please post one flower picture each day you are inspired to do so."
