Happy Thanksgiving America In 2024

It will just be me and my lovely SO. There will be turkey and the usuals, in small portions, just for us. I'll call my brothers, and that's about it for excitement. SO has very little family left, and is not close to them. I know we should give thanks, count our blessings, etc, but it would be a false pretense. Holidays, for me, are just a reminder of all the people I have lost.
 
I like turkey better than ham, which some people substitute for the more traditional turkey, but I only eat white meat.

Actually turkey probably wasn't a large part of the Pilgrim's celebration as were many foods that have come to be associated with the holiday. The settlers likely had to rely on wild game like deer and rabbit (some game may have been turkeys). Also, being near the ocean, they likely had seafoods.
