What I couldn't get this week shopping

I’m looking for an ironing board sleeve. I can find some; the cheapest are over $50 and that’s too much for something that might get used once a month. Other than Amazon, I can’t think of anyplace else to look.

Walmart or Walmart.com? Their website shows them for $16-$18 in the US.

Thanks. I found the small ironing board style on Amazon.

Guess I want the Cadillac style for the same price. This one is $75. For the little that I iron, I can’t justify it.

I recently bought a table top ironing board, with a cover for $21.99 from Canadian Tire, and a steam iron made by Black and Decker, also from CTC for $19.99. The ironing board hangs behind the bedroom door. JIMB>

Pimentos. I’ve been searching several stores. Decided to ask a clerk at a specialty food store. She says they haven’t been able to get them for years. I did see them on a grocery store shelf while back east. A jar of pimentos isn’t something you pack home on the plane, especially with carryon only.

co-incidentally, since my tumble dryer broke down last week, I had to hang the laundry out on the line yesterday but of course as it hasn't been tumbled it all needs ironing...and when I brought the ironing board out for the first time in about a year or more..I realised I need a new Cover.. so I was aghast at the prices they want for them....

Do you mean an ironing board cover for the standard size ironing board that stands on the floor? They have one at Ikea that sells for $15 USD. LAGT ironing board cover, gray - IKEA CA

Here’s some at Target Canada: Ironing Board Cover : Target

Neither. It’s a small board that is designed for ironing sleeves on shirts. Thanks for looking.
Oh, I would just throw a 100% cotton towel over that. You could even make a cover if you know how to sew. Or hire a seamstress to make one, but she would also probably charge $50.

Just pin the towel underneath with safety pins, or pin it on with straight pins and then hand-sew the overlap of the 100% cotton towel closed.

They really do that in fashion shows sometimes. The fashion designer will hand sew the dress onto the model because it’s just the fashion show dress. If some buyer then wants to buy 100 of them, then he/she has to design a proper zipper into the dress.

100% cotton pillowcase would work to. Slip it on, cut off the excess fabric, overlap edges and hand sew.

Probably Monday isn't the best day to grocery shop. I managed to get almost everything on my list (I had to go back because I ran out of money last week), but I noticed many bare shelves. I still can't get aftershave (it nice to splash on in warm weather and has a nice fragrance). The discount stores have been out of it for months and when I do find a store that has some, it's in incredibly small bottles and very pricey (by my standards).

I was trying to find pimentos a few months ago. Not a store in town had them. The clerk at one grocery store said it was a "supply problem". What? The entire pimento crop failed?

Last week, I finally found them at Walmart again. I don't need them now, dang it, but I bought a jar anyway just in case I DO need some later.

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups witch hazel
  • 1 large lemon
Peel lemon and put peelings into the 2 cups of water. Boil down until there’s 1 cup remaining. Allow lemon water to cool and then add witch hazel

This is one of the simplest to make and most refreshing to use after bath splashes you will find.
