Your own body, what hurts today?

Back, legs, feet, hips, arms, teeth every day all day :(. Heck some days even my hair hurts. šŸ˜
At the age of three, I told a physician who was determining how severely injured I was after a car accident, that my hair hurt. I had been told to tell him everything hurt in order to increase monetary compensation from the Taxi company's insurance company. Well, in my childish innocence. i took the instructions literally. So when he pinched my hair, and asked if that also hurt, I said yes!

My hips hurt everyday.

I kept having severe pain in my hips and I thought it was coming from my facet joints in the back since I did have that problem previously. Yesterday, I had a bone density test and today I was told that the test showed that I have severe osteoporosis in both hips. The doctor, who is also my friend, has sent in a prescription that I will be taking once per month.

I was told what this disease does increase the likelihood of having breaks in my hips. This is not a good thing.

I was just diagnosed with osteoporosis in my Left hip and lower spine, about a month ago. I noticed the dr gave me a referral for a bone density scan.
What type of medication did your doctor prescribe, if I may ask?

Something called "Boniva". I think, (but not 100% positive), that there may be a generic available for this medication. It's taken once per month.

Nathan:

My doctor also stated to me that there is a drug called "Fosamax," which is taken once per week. My doctor recommended taking the Boniva.

I have advanced Osteoporosis.

I take Alendronate it is used to treat and prevent osteoporosis (a condition in which the bones become thin and weak and break easily) in women who have undergone menopause (''change of life,'' end of menstrual periods) and to treat osteoporosis in men. Alendronate is also used to treat osteoporosis in men and women who are taking corticosteroids (a type of medication that may cause osteoporosis in some patients). Alendronate is also used to treat Paget's disease of bone (a condition in which the bones are soft and weak and may be deformed, painful, or easily broken). Alendronate is in a class of medications called bisphosphonates. It works by preventing bone breakdown and increasing bone density (thickness).

I take this med once weekly..

Have only been taking it for two years..

I can not say for sure it has or is helping my severe Osteoporosis..

I am not laughing at you!! Your hair can hurt, I have cervical neck problems that cause pain in my eyes, ears and jaws. When it flairs my hair feels like needles in my scalp, laying on a pillow is like laying on a rock. When all the nerves in your neck are inflammed, it causes a lot of problems. I started physical therapy today, even this has been going on for years.

Also, to those of you having hip problems, my doc thought it was my low back. Turns out the hip joint had died, AVN, had to have a hip replacement. Never heard of such a thing but it is all to real.

Anything below the rib cage. Started as knee trouble over a decade ago and has worked it's way up since.
