My friend/neighbor's (down the hall who wanted her hair cut) husband met me in the hall today. He asked to speak to me and wanted to know what his wife had told me. He did not tell her she could not have her hair cut. He just told her if it was more than $50. she needs to find a cheaper hairdresser. He said she misunderstands everything he says to her. I believe it. Dementia. I have been following Teepa Snow's videos and they have been very helpful to me in my friendship with my friend.

Meet "Rabbit" My House Rabbit Companion

Where I live we are allowed to have one pet with no deposit, as long as you have a doctor's slip. My doctor asked me what to write and he wrote it out. If you have another pet, you have to pay $100. deposit on that one. Rabbit is quiet and doesn't make any noise, unless he hears an unusual noise, then he gives me the rabbit warning sign of stomping both back feet loudly.

I never planned to have a rabbit much less a "house rabbit" at the time I got him, I had 3 horses and 2 cats. My other animals had died off by then. In 2014, my husband came in the house from the barn to tell me there was a rabbit in the barn. When he said it was white, I asked if it was a cat and he thought it was a rabbit. I thought that because we had a stray tomcat that came to our house and acted like he lived there, so I thought it was him. I went out to the barn with him and yes, there was a white rabbit!

He was digging around in the hay and didn't seem to be scared of us. But if I tried to get near him, he scooted out of sight. He had made a bed hidden under a pallet of hay. Now I have been writing and attending homesteading events for some time so I was familiar with rabbits. My brother had one as a pet when we were kids but she was kept outside in a shed. I sat on the bench watching him and I instant fell in love with this little guy! When I saw his side though..........it was clear that an owl had picked him up somewhere and he must have gotten away somehow. He had marks on his side. I wanted to doctor him, but he would not let me that near him.

He ended up living out there from Sept to early Feb. Some nights he'd go off and wouldn't come back for 2 or 3 days. I'd go crazy with worrying knowing something would get him. We lived in the middle of the state forest and there were a lot of coyotes and other critters out there. I heard owls every night and baby rabbits screaming right after that hoo hoo. So I was scared and wanted to bring him inside if I could get a hold of him. Plus that was a very cold winter with temps -26.

Well he healed on his own. Eventually, I caught him (but that is another story to tell) and brought him inside. I researched online about caring for a pet rabbit and discovered the world of "House Rabbits" and that is what he is. I had him neutered and he uses a litter box, but I didn't even have to teach him. Pretty much like a cat, just did it. When I moved from my house, I took him with me and he is the talk of the apartment complex. Everyone calls me "the rabbit lady." But lots of people have house rabbits, just not here.

I always feel good when I do things. Productive days for me result in a good mood that lasts through to the next day. Then if that day is productive too I am happier. Yesterday, I got a lot done.

Decluttering, cleaning & organizing. Trouble is that my apartment is small so space is hard to come by. I had fairly large amount of herbal teas which for some reason I don't drink anymore. Rarely. I drink LMNT electrolytes instead. I don't even make ice tea anymore unless I know Sonny is coming up to my apartment. So I was able to take them out and will offer them to my son but if he doesn't want them I will put them on the free table downstairs.

The big news here yesterday is my friend downstairs has a mouse in her apartment. The people sitting in the lobby saw it go in under her door. She was already in bed and sleeping so they did not bother to wake her up. One of the guys got her some mousetraps and set them for her yesterday. It had already gotten into her closet. I have a thing on my door to cover the bottom but I still see light coming in at night under the door. Have to check it out and see what I can do to prevent anything or anyone sneaking in under my door.

Mine always were too....until I made friends with a stray tomcat. He was a very tough cat but so loving. I always say he wasn't mine, because technically he wasn't. He would be gone for months and then show up every day for a few months. My cats were all females and all spayed. But he would protect them from any other stray cat that showed up. They were all good hunters.

This morning I am working on another blog post. When I get that finished walking out to the dumpster. I try to get out there before it gets too hot out. Tomorrow is my doctor appointment so I will have to get out in the heat then.

Not sure what happened to my computer but I was writing a post on that thread about whether it is worse to lose your spouse through divorce or death and my mouse would not move. I put new batteries in and still would not. I shut if off and rebooted and everything is fine. Must be the ghost of my ex.......
 
I have had a number of busy days. After doing such a good job on the "Lazy Susan" I decided to organize the bookcases. I worked on it on the week-end and again all day yesterday and it was hard work. I ordered an expandable shelf from Amazon and it was the answer to storing my CDs. It is heavy duty and made of steel. Now I can clearly see the CDs so can find the one I want quickly. Now I have the other two bottom shelves of it to do. The bottom one is easy it has all my shoes on it.

Today I won't be doing any household projects. I have a doctor appointment. My ride is picking me up at 1:15 PM for a 2:15 PM appointment. Even though I live only 10 minutes from the doctor's office. I will take what I get. Just taking my Kindle with me while I wait. So the only thing I will be doing today is cleaning Rabbit's cage before I have to get ready for the appointment. This will be my 2nd appointment with the new doctor. I like having one nearby instead of a long car ride to Johnson City.

Three people are busy moving out of their apartments to get out by the 1st. So a lot of activity out here during the day. Usually it is quiet since it has been so hot. Everyone staying out of the sun.
 
The ride, Get There Mobility, turned out to be a good thing. Picked me up and when I was done I called and he came and picked me up. When he picked me up there was another woman waiting for him to. We got talking and it passed the time till he got there. Sat outside in the sunshine while I waited and it was breezy so not so bad.

My appointment went fine. Nothing new unless I want to get shots in my knees. No thank you! I don't do shots if I can help it.
 
Today I am going to try to have an easy day. I was going to do laundry because it is a small load and that would fall under easy. So I will see about that. I have done a lot of things lately that have made my shoulders hurt (reaching up into the cupboards and closet shelves) so I want to rest them. No cleaning or organizing today.

I think I want to read a book and listen to music. Or color. I deleted all the news channels on YT that I was subscribed to. Not going to add to any stress I might have. Right now I am having coffee and going to wash my supper dishes because last night I could not stand to do them. Then make some more Keto Chow (keto replacement meal shakes) for ice cream. That ice cream is something I really look forward to.
 
Today I am running late. I had to work on my budget sheet as soon as I got up. For me, it is my payday (SS). Tomorrow is my son's and that means Sonny will come and take me to do our errands. I always dread that day because is is busy with lots of people out. Depending on how I feel this morning after my coffee and shower, I might walk to the post office to get my own rent money order. That would be one less thing to do tomorrow.

My arms still hurt from the work I did the other day in my closet and cupboards. At least my shoulders are not still painful. So maybe tomorrow my arms will be better though I am planning on doing some arm exercises to build up more strength in them. I am thinking about starting up walking in my hall again. By myself. When I was doing it I did it consistently because I did not have to leave my floor. I will have to see if my neighbor's dog barks when I walk by their door. I would hate that.
 
I wish I was the kind of mother that could just pay for stuff for my son and not make him pay me back. But he gets much more money from SS than I do because it comes from his father's benefit (Disabled Adult Child).

When he moved into my building I bought his bed and paid his final electric bill from his old apartment with my credit card. I had no choice. Presently he is paying an extra $100. a month on the deposit for his apartment here. It will be paid off in Oct. Then I will start taking $100. a month from his check to pay on my card. I feel guilty doing that but it is a hardship for me to pay it.

The thing about him, even though he is 54, he has no understanding of how much money his check is or what his bills are. It is frustrating. We manage though and since moving here he always has food. Plus having a nice apartment. Today the food bank food boxes arrived so I went downstairs and got his two boxes and took them up to him. He might not like the particular foods in there but at least it is something to eat.

I had also got an order from Walmart because Rabbit was out of bananas. So I got a few things I needed and for Jeff too. Ground beef, guacamole, coke and coffee. That is what likes best. Usually I get him ice cream too but his check comes tomorrow so he can get that then.

He does but not as much as I get. So I usually use his debit card to pay for his deliveries. He never questions me about it. And unless there is something expensive he wants to buy on Amazon he doesn't spend much. I give a bit of cash at times because he goes out and might get some pizza or something he needs.
 
Today should not be too bad. I think I will skip going to Walmart. Though I will be right across the street at my credit union. Depends on how crowded it is. Always crowded on check day.

I will know more about it once I am using it more than a few times. I like the woman's voice and manner. I don't like the ones that sound like drill sergeants. I am also doing other things but I realize I do not do enough activity. I try but then my knees bother me so I am not consistent. I had planned on being more active this summer but this hot weather is hotter than normal here and I cannot take it.
