Reflections of My Life

Raining this morning, so I will be doing some housecleaning as soon as my neighbors get up. Having younger couples on each side of me, they stay up later at night and get up later too. One couple goes to a program every morning so they get up a bit earlier than the other ones. I do not like to run something that makes noise until I know they are up.

I just placed a grocery order for some items I needed. Will be delivered sometime between 12 and 2. I now try to order Jeff's groceries separate from mine. So I pay for it with his own money. Right now he has food so not ordering him any.

The one thing about Walmart delivery is that if they are out of something they just don't bring it. Instacart shoppers will many times get a meat item that is out of stock from the butcher. It is not really out of stock, just not put out in the case. I had that happen from Price Chopper, Grand Union & Aldi's. Never from Walmart. So if I am expecting a certain item (and many times that is why I made an order to begin with) and don't get it I am bummed out.

Do you get a chance to make a substitute when you make your initial order?

It's very windy here today...too.. but it's 72 degrees so still warm altho' with a welcome breeze.. . and overcast.

Not getting into autumn here at all yet.. the forecast is for higher temps again in the next few days
It will get in the 70's here too today. The feeling I get for fall is something other than the temps I think. It is in the air and the birds seem to be feeling it too. I can't quite explain it. I saw people outside this morning wearing hoodies!

I have been making good morning memes from my own photos. It is fun to do and I like having new ones to use here and on fakebook. Just a matter of thinking of what to write on each one. I admit that I look at the old ones (that are not my own creation) and use some of those. Trying to put some zip into it. I have a ton of photos that are not doing anything except sitting in my computer. So I figured I may as well use them. Keeps me busy.

Now just having coffee and making plans for my day.
I have been making my own pictures, by playing with a few different A.I. image generator sites. They are free, and I can make the picture apply to whatever situation I want.

When I first started, I would stay on those sites for hours. I used to say that "I've fallen down the A.I. rabbit hole"! 😉

If you haven't tried this, it might be a fun way to spend time on your computer.

I have not ventured into the A.I. rabbit hole as of yet. I like to make my own memes with my own pictures that I took with my camera. I spend hours doing that also. I feel like they are not going to waste this way.

Sometimes. Certain items will say no substitutes available on this item.
All of ours has a substitute that we can choose, but sometimes the substitute offered on the order page isn't really the same as what we initially want.. for example, we want unsmoked bacon... they offer smoked as a substitute well that's completely different..

In the earlier days when online ordering first started with the supermarkets people were getting weird substitutions..like shampoo instead of dish soap...chocolate instead of peas... :ROFLMAO:

This morning

I am opposite of you. I want it to be cooler. When it is hot out (at least 70's) I can barely stand it. I get red......even my hands! I have my air conditioner on as soon as it hits 63. It is on now. You are right though, yesterday on my walk to the doctor I said to myself that fall is in the air.
I'm like you Kat I much prefer cooler weather. I don't feel well when I'm hot,I will stay inside with a.c.i get up early to do things that need done outside while its not as hot.i usually mow around 9 to not disturb my neighbors.

I like doing my laundry on Sunday because the building is almost completely quiet. I can sit in the laundry room waiting for my machines to finish and coloring or reading undisturbed. Then......my machine will not finish or unlock due to being unbalanced! I do everything by the rules on the washers to make sure not to overload it.

If I use the two machines on one end because last time one of them did it then one of these will do it. Finally it will open and I have to take everything out of it and put it in a different machine. Not spending another $2. to have it do it again. The laundry is soaking wet and needs to be spun out but has to go through the entire cycle.

Today doing the laundry cost me $6.00 for the washers and $3.50 for the dryers (because the washers did not finish together they could not dry together either). So $9.50 for two loads. Normally it would be $4.00 for two washers and $1.75 for one dryer because I dry both loads together. $5.75.
That's awful!!! Are other people having the same problem? If so, maybe the building manager/maintenance person can look into a solution.

The need to understand that people don't have the money to just throw away! It sounds like whoever owns those machines is making quite a profit!! 😠

When my friend calls me, she always says, "What did you do today?" I am dumbstruck.........what did I do today that is worth mentioning?

Coffee and computer first of course. Then I went downstairs and got my deliveries. I made an order for groceries from Walmart. Jeff came here and we ordered CDs for him. Cooked breakfast and washed dishes. Re-potted my African Violet and cleaned up that mess! Groomed my bunny boy. Then cleaned his cage.

It sounds like a lot of trivial boring jobs that shouldn't take too long. But in between I have to sit down and then try again. The jobs I planned to do I have not even gotten to yet and I doubt I will today. I am not competing with her for the most fulfilling jobs. Though because she has her own house and still works I figure she wins. That is if she really did those things. When I was into the modern homesteading lifestyle I did things she could not do. Now she can?
Actually, it sounds like a wonderful day! 💖 I wish all days went smoothly. Usually, "news" means something bad or something wrong. I know, I know: news can be something good.....but for some reason it doesn't usually work that way! 😉

Many, many years ago, I worked as a Quality Assurance Inspector. Almost all of our jobs were sensitive government contracts, like electrical connectors for nuclear missiles, etc. Back then, I use to always say "boring is good!". LOL

Since then, it has become my philosophy. I don't want any drama in my life. I'm very happy with the same ol' same ol'!

Sadly, our manager was forced by the management company to manage another building about 50 miles away. That building was in sad shape and needed someone to help it. So our manager who did such a great job here had to go there too (her reward for doing an awesome job here is more work farther away). She was really busy here and we needed her.

She has gotten behind on her work here now. In fact some people are living here without a lease because she did not get their re-certifications done yet. So it started to be really good here, but now feels like no manager available to us. I have not seen her here in at least 2 weeks and just learned yesterday that she has gotten sick. I can understand why. Too much pressure and too much work.

This morning the first thing I did after I got my coffee and turned on the computer was to go to fakebook. One of my friends, who I went to school with when I lived in Flagler Beach had posted yesterday that her husband was missing. He is 75 and has dementia. He was sitting in their truck while she was in the store (and has done that often). When she came out the truck was gone along with him. She contacted the police and everyone was looking for him.

He has not driven in over two years so she did not expect him to do that. He did though. Drove to Cape Canaveral! About 100 miles away! Thank God, he was found there at a 7-11 and safe, but confused. He was taken to the hospital to be checked out and she was on her way down.

I thought and prayed about him all night long. Even had dreams about Flagler Beach. I never met him but have enjoyed their posts on FB with their dogs and trips they take. They just got back last week from a trip. Funny how you get to care about people you don't know in person or barely know. I think it is all about loving one another.
Wow! I'm so glad he is safe!!

I got to and from the foot doctor's office with no problem. I stopped once and sat down under the canopy at NBT bank. I was early and didn't have to wait very long. It turned out to be a nice walk because there was a breeze. Even though it is still hot out, it was overcast, and had the feeling of fall in the air. I had it in my mind that I was going to have a hard time getting to that appointment but I was wrong. I need to be more positive.

Then later on Rabbit's hay was delivered so I went downstairs and got it. Lifted that heavy box onto my walker with no help. I amaze myself sometimes with the things I manage to do. Instead of thinking I can't do it, I need to think I can (like the little red caboose!).
You are an amazing person, and stronger than you think you are! With a positive attitude, you can accomplish so much!!! 💖

Thank you, but I never consider myself wise. I spend a lot of time learning about health and what I can do to improve whatever condition I am dealing with at the time. I cannot give in to not being able to do something. Walking yesterday was good for me. This morning it is raining so not going to be walking outside.
Sometimes, health is not always a matter of book learning. Rather, it can be an awareness yourself and knowing/understanding how you feel!

Thank you! I don't feel very amazing. I am a worrier. There is always something for me to worry about. I am trying to change that. My mother always told me not to worry about something until I had no choice. She would tell me to make a list of the pros and cons of the situation and then the things I can do to change it. So I do that.

Absolutely!!! I enjoy doing that also, but I usually customize pictures that I find online.

Using my own pictures.....that's a great idea! Thanks!

That is exactly how I live. I never just follow what doctors or other health professionals tells me. I follow my gut. That is why I am not on any prescriptions. Besides whenever I have had one in the past, they never worked the way they say they do for me.

My Grandfather lived next door to me when I was very young. He was a huge worrier.

In my opinion, the best lesson that I learned from him was the day that I saw him standing in the driveway. He was staring at the sky, shaking his head. I asked him what was wrong. He pointed at the clouds in the sky, and said "look at that." Since I was only about 6-7 years old, I had no idea of what was bothering him. I said "I only see clouds."

He was so upset that he turned to me and almost shouted (with worry, not anger) "What if it rains???!!". My only thought was "....and what if it doesn't!"

I walked away with a lifelong lesson that day. His example of how not to be has always stayed with me.

Without routine, I'd be totally lost. It starts first thing in the morning, with breakfast. I know what day of the week it is, by what I'm eating. Today I'm having eggs....so it must be Thursday!
Trila, with all due respect...that would drive me insane !!

...I cannot stand routine like that.

My late m-i-l was a stickler for the same food on the same days.. and she was a professional cook... ...that would drive me nuts !

I think I mentioned on here about my favorite Chinese restaurant having to close some months back due to the ceiling falling in (while customers were eating!). The landlord refused to fix it. So the owners had to find a new building to move to.

On the scanner page I belong to on fakebook, people said horrible things about that restaurant. About the food. Saying they killed cats for food and having bugs on the buffet. Sonny and I ate there often and enjoyed it. Never saw anything bad or ever had a bad meal. That is the way people behave on that page.

On July 31st they opened in their new location. Next to Aldi's in a plaza. Lots of parking. Those next five days they had long lines of people waiting to be seated! At a Chinese buffet! By Sunday evening, they had to close early because they had run out of food! People were posting how good the food was. Better than before.

It just goes to show you how the saying that every cloud has a silver lining is true. I have found that many times in my own life. When this restaurant had to close, it was next door to the building my son lived in (now he lives in my building) and not a good spot. They were so dejected because the landlord refused to fix the ceiling which had been leaking a long time and finally fell in. They were forced to relocate. Now I bet they will be more successful. I hope so.

I’ve noticed when I go on my Norwich Facebook site that people are so negative about their town. It bothers me as when I grew up there, it was a great little city. The way people talk now, makes me think that drugs have taken over the place. Terrible attitudes from some folks.
This photo was on Facebook the other day. You’ve probably see it too. Not much I recognize anymore.

Well the courthouse is right here at the bottom with the gold thing on top. Across from it is the church and apartment building next to my building in the far right. That park in front of the courthouse is where I like to walk and sit to watch the traffic go by.

I get mad at those posts and comments too! Some people are so negative about everything. They say it is not safe. Well, I live right across from the area they say is not safe and don't see any of what they are talking about. Yes, we have had a lot of homeless people but there were not that many until that BLM protest came here. I think they bussed them in and then forgot to take them with them when they left.

I believe the drugs are in all cities and towns. Even the ones those people live in. I see a lot of good going on here in Norwich. They got a huge grant to make the downtown area beautiful and it is being worked on. The two buildings that are in trouble is the one my son used to live in and where the Norwich Buffet was. Where the Bluebird Diner was.

I love where I live. And my building too. Yet there are people who live here who hate it and complain about it all the time. I think to myself that if they hate it so much why don't they move? If those people on the Norwich pages hate it so much wonder why they are always on those pages?
